FIRE DRILL

Please review PRIMARY and SECONDARY EVACUATION routes with your students.

All students are to remain silent.

Students should exit quickly and quietly.

Teachers are to bring their “teacher signs” with them.

Verify that the classroom is clear and that no one is left behind.

Once outside, immediately take attendance.

Hold up the green “All Clear” card once all students are

accounted for.

Hold up the red “Help Needed” card if a student is not accounted for.

Once the “All Clear Signal” is given, students can return

to the classrooms.

6

TORNADO DRILL

When the announcement is made… “TORNADO DRILL, ALL STUDENTS AND STAFF REPORT TO THEIR ASSIGNED AREAS.”

Students should be moved away from the windows and

classrooms without interior corridors. Students will then carry out the safety position, when

they are instructed: “EVERYBODY DOWN! CROUCH ON ELBOWS AND KNEES. HANDS OVER BACK OF HEAD.”

It is essential that this command be instantly

understood and obeyed. Most tornado deaths are caused by head injuries.

If students/classes are in…

English, Math, Science, Tech I, II, III or Gym should be brought into the hallway to assume the position.

Transition, they need to enter the closest building and assume the protective posture.

All classes in the portables and modulars should report immediately to the cafeteria escorted by their teachers. Students are to go to the inner most walls and assume the position.

Students should be silent during the tornado drill. Once the “All Clear” is given, students can resume their

regular activities.
