What CFAS Accomplished in 2015

CFAS launched or completed a number of projects in 2015 that came about through direct feedback from our member representatives.

What you say matters…

New Communication Tools

CFAS reps requested a variety of ways to:

• Report back to their institutions

• Communicate with one another

• Learn about the operation and work of CFAS

Page 11: Nov. 6, 2015 CFAS Business Meeting Rosemarie Fisher, MD Ann Bonham, PhD Scott Gitlin, MD Vincent Pellegrini, MD

New Communication ToolsIn the past year, we created and launched

• A downloadable PowerPoint summary of major meetings so reps have a ready-to-use resource to present to peers, societies, and home institutions

• The CFAS Member Representative Newsletter, which profiles reps and societies, reports news, and provides tips for navigating the AAMC. Published quarterly (the next edition comes out immediately after the AAMC Annual Meeting)

• The CFAS listserv for general use among reps

Page 12: Nov. 6, 2015 CFAS Business Meeting Rosemarie Fisher, MD Ann Bonham, PhD Scott Gitlin, MD Vincent Pellegrini, MD

New Communication ToolsWe also added content to www.aamc.org/cfas, including a CFAS brochure, a guide to being a CFAS rep, AAMC resources for faculty, and a summary of CFAS reps and accomplishments.

New Initiative on Defining Faculty

CFAS is leading a new interdisciplinary project at the AAMC, the Work Group to Define Faculty, which seeks to consolidate and build upon past work on the topic.

It includes voices from CFAS, GWIMS, GFA, GDI, GFP, GRMC, and GREAT, and is chaired by Rosemarie Fisher.

Your Feedback on GME

• CFAS reps have been highly engaged in the Optimizing GME initiative since it began within the past year.

• Most recently, CFAS reps were among the key respondents in a poll on the optimal learning environment.

New Engagement Opportunity

After hearing from CFAS reps that we needed more opportunities to engage, we have just rolled out the CFAS Content Areas, providing reps with opportunities to engage on critical topics and also providing an informational resource for existing CFAS committees and working groups.

These are free-form and CFAS member driven.

Page 19: Nov. 6, 2015 CFAS Business Meeting Rosemarie Fisher, MD Ann Bonham, PhD Scott Gitlin, MD Vincent Pellegrini, MD

New Engagement Opportunity• So far, more than 50 CFAS reps have signed

up to participate in the CFAS Content Areas.

• Many of the topics, including health policy and global health came directly from CFAS reps.

• If you haven’t yet signed up and want more information, email Eric Weissman at:[email protected] – or just find him during a break.

Full implementation: Next Spring Meeting.
