Your “Christmas Gift” will be a wonderful blessing to children who otherwise will probably not get a Christmas present. With them, we will be so grateful to you. It has been a wonderful, wonderful and much-blessed year in the Every Home for Christ schools in Bangladesh and India and we have received good reports of the children sponsored to go to school in Nepal too.

Because these children don’t often get new clothes, we usually buy the girls a new dress and the boys some new clothes for Christmas. Those who sponsor children in the schools will receive photos of the children with their new clothes. Also, your gift will be used to give a special Christmas gift to the teachers and the Every Home for Christ workers. The Every Home for Christ workers are paid a very basic salary and your Christmas gift will be much-appreciated help for their families. It’s best to send money because it is very expensive to post “gifts” to overseas and, more importantly, we like to give all the children “equal” presents. Please list your gift on the enclosed gift slip. Many, many thanks for sharing the joy of Christmas with those who have very little! May God give you a wonderfully blessed Christmas too!

EHC WORKERS’CHRISTMAS GIFTS

A Christmas gift for this EHC Malawi worker and many others just like him in India, Bangladesh and Nepal will be a wonderful blessing to their families. He rides a bike, visits door-to-door with Gospel literature and has a loud speaker and Bible in hand, ready to preach wherever he can … going where we cannot go!

He, and all the other workers, are worth a Christmas present!

INDONESIAPlanting the Seeds

of Salvation

In recent years, Indonesia has strug-gled with adjust-ments to major political transitions and suffered through the most catastrophic natu-ral disaster in its history. In 2004 Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono was elected president in the first direct presidential elec-tions since inde-pendence was declared in 1945. At the close of 2004, a deadly tsu-nami struck, devas-tating thousands of coastal villages and claiming more than 220,000 lives. Every Home for Christ has been

share the Good News home to home. A call from local churches on Batam Island sent EHC’s pio-neer missionaries on a quiet campaign to share the Gospel dur-ing Ramadan, the Muslim month of fast-ing and prayer. “Since the inhabitants of Batam are from vari-ous backgrounds, our pioneer missionaries chose the safest areas to visit during the dis-tribution,” reports EHC’s National Director, who must remain anonymous for security reasons. “So far they have dis-tributed 99,110 gos-pel booklets. There

I ndonesia is com-prised of 17,500

islands that span the Indian and Pacific Oceans between Asia and Australia. The diversity of its people is reflected in the more than 700 lan-guages spoken throughout the islands. Indonesia also has a Muslim population of more than 180 million people, making it home to more Muslims than any other nation on earth.

mobilizing local churches to share the Gospel in Indon-esia for more than 30 years, with tremen-dous results. At least 347,968 people have responded to the Gospel, leading to the formation of

4,194 village fellow-ships called Christ Groups. The recent upsurge in Islam has made evangelism dif-ficult in some areas, but the campaign continues as believers

Gospel in the Horn and the Middle East.” Finally, an aggres-sive summer cam-paign is also under-way in Burundi. The goal of this summer campaign is to reach 50,000 families of the ethnic Twa people. The Twa are consid-ered one of the least-reached people groups in Burundi. EHC Director Jerome Wa‘Asende is praying for a harvest of 100,000 led to Christ, with 200 village Christ Group fellowships formed. More than three million people are expected to be reached with the Gospel through EHC’s aggressive 2008 Summer Advance. Please pray that the Holy Spirit will pre-pare hearts, remove obstacles and open doors for the Good News to reach every home and point the lost to Jesus.

that many will respond positively and will witness the love of our Father.” In Kenya, a cam-paign is underway to share the Gospel with at least 80,000 people living in the Kibera slum, just outside of Nairobi. EHC Director Nicholas Mulea is mobilizing 20 teams of two distributors each to reach 100 homes a day. “Jesus sent His disci-ples out two by two,” Nicholas said. “Each of our teams will reach these homes daily, doing practical, per-son-to-person wit-nessing of the Gospel, praying for the people and directing them to evangelical churches within this village. Also, in the evening, we will show a series of films, like the Jesus film, Pilgrims Progress

and others.” Another summer advance is underway in Ethiopia, where believ-ers from 25 local churches are reaching out to 50,000 people living in the city of Nazareth. “Ethiopia is in the Horn of Africa, which includes Eritrea, Djibouti, Somali, and Sudan,” explains EHC Director Aynalem Haimanot. “These are Muslim nations that are continually moving to Islamize Ethiopia. The strategic position of Ethiopia to the rest of the Horn and the Middle East gives us a great responsibility to finish the unfinished task of sharing the

dents and teachers in 300 elementary and secondary schools. At least 165,000 students and teachers will receive the “Father’s Love Letter” gospel booklets and be encouraged to take the booklets home and share them with every member of their family. “Because the vision is to take the Gospel to every home, we have seen an urgency to reach these homes through the stu-dents,” said EHC Director Ananie Bagaragaza. “Each day they return home, they can easi-ly take the Gospel with them into their homes, and share the Gospel with other classmates. There is no doubt

But despite doubts about the future, the history of the Jewish people is a story of survival. An unknown author said that they survived – not as Israelis, but as Jews. The world would have no problem with a secular Israel. Or with a Muslim Israel. What it cannot live with is a Jewish Israel. It cannot even explain why. One of the most enduring mysteries of the ages is, to my mind, the phenomenon of Anti-Semitism. It doesn’t follow any logical pattern that could explain it – indeed, taken as a purely social phenomenon, it makes no sense whatever. Anti-Semitism appears to be universal; it has existed in every generation, among every people, on every continent upon which the Jew has put his foot. There is but one logical explanation for anti-Semitism, and that explanation is spiritual. The devil is trying to convince the world that Israel is the problem of everything – Jews deserve what they get! But why does Satan so passionately hate the Jewish people? Michael Brown in his book “Our Hands are Stained With Blood” says that by hurting them, Satan seeks to hurt the Lord and takes revenge for his own sentence of death. His effort to annihilate the Jews is to discredit the Lord. If Israel ceases to exist as a distinct people, then God did not, or could not, keep his Promise. Specifically, what are those promises to Israel? Ultimately, they are derived from those given to Abraham in Genesis 12:1-3: The promises of a people, the promises of a land, and the promises of a blessing. In Ezekiel 36:24 we read , “I will take you out of the nations; I will gather you from all countries and bring you into your own land.” Israel is under attack from many directions. Dark times are still to come, but in the end God will prevail. The conclusion of the Bible is more than a fitting conclusion for this editorial. The apostle John’s final prayer must be our ultimate prayer as well: He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen (Revelation 22:20-21).

Israel and Christians Today

Israel is geographically so tiny, especially in comparison to the vast space of the Arab countries, which combined are some 650 times the size of Israel. Yet, the Jewish state remains the unceasing target of hostile criticism, with some countries threatening extinction. From almost the beginning of human history, the Jewish people have faced threats to their survival, but overcame them by the grace of the Almighty God. Today Israel is probably the only country in the world whose right to exist is debated and whose future is questioned. Why does most of the world hate the Jews? What have the Jews ever done to the world? Will Israel survive? To many people, the entire conflict seems to be about geography. Two people, Jews and Palestinians, claim one piece of land as their own. But of course it goes much deeper. In his book “Will Israel Survive” Mitchell G. Bard writes that it is a religious obligation for Muslims to subjugate the infidels and it is unacceptable for non-Muslims to rule over Muslims or for non-Muslims to control Muslim territory. “This is absolutely basic to understanding the intractability of the Israeli-Islamic conflict. It is inconceivable that Hamas or Islamic Jihad or Hizbollah or any other fundamentalist group can accept the existence of a Jewish state in the body of the Islamic world. Israel is the cancer (a reference they often use) that must be excised, and there is nothing that anyone can do to change their minds. If Israel were to withdraw tomorrow from all of the West Bank, all of East Jerusalem, and give every inch of the Golan Heights to Syria, there still would be no peace, because the Islamists will not be satisfied with a return to the 1967 borders; they demand that the border be the Mediterranean Sea. Although an infinitesimal fraction of the global population, Jews have been awarded a quarter of all the Nobel Prizes given in the 20th century for chemistry, economics, literature, peace, physics and medicine. Even the nations of the Arab world could have peace with Israel for the asking. Yet there is no nation on earth more universally despised.

COVER STORY(continued from page 3)

in Argentina, another major summer cam-paign is underway. More than 1,000 believers from 200 churches are being mobilized to share the Gospel with more than one million peo-ple in the province of Santiago del Estero. EHC Director Rino Bello is dispatching evangelism teams to visit homes, prisons, hospitals, schools, businesses, and seats of government. “We hope to receive 2,500 to 3,000 decisions for Christ,” Rino said. “And we will end the cam-paign with big cele-

campaign, Pastor Caceres, was once a commander in the Contra Army. Now he is leading believers in an effort to share the peace and love of Jesus. Another summer campaign is under-way in Chile. EHC Director Victor Stuardo is coordinat-ing a unique effort to share the Gospel with more than 40,000 men and women in the Chilean Army, Air Force and Navy. Believers in the mili-tary are also partici-pating in the cam-paign. “Some of them are already commit-ted to the Gospel of the Lord, and they even have regional coordinators,” Victor explained. “We want to reach the remain-ing members of the defense forces who are in active service.” Across the border

brations!” A world away, believers in Africa are storming spiritual strongholds in five nations, armed with the power of the Gospel. In Uganda, EHC Director Fred Mukasa is mobilizing churches to help share the Gos-pel in three major slums and 20 second-ary schools in Kam-pala and Jinja. His goal is to impact more than one million people

with the Good News. “We believe that putting emphasis on the young people in the schools will cause lasting results,” Fred shared. “Work-ing with over one million people in the targeted schools and slums within the planned two months is a big thrill to us at EHC Uganda!” Rwanda will always be remem-bered for the tribal violence that erupt-ed there in 1994. Within 90 days, near-ly one million people had been slaugh-tered in the ethnic violence. This sum-mer, believers in Rwanda are joining forces to help take the Gospel to stu-

have been 118 deci-sions for Christ and seven new Christ Groups formed!” Wherever the Gospel is shared in Indonesia, the Holy Spirit finds a place in open hearts to plant the seeds of salvation. Through an EHC out-reach in Central Java, a young Muslim named Hasan discov-ered that Jesus was more than a prophet. “I want to share about my wonderful life in Christ,” Hasan wrote. “I have a Muslim background. I received Jesus as my Lord and Savior. My family does not accept the fact that I follow Jesus. I always pray for them. I want to be a blessing to my family. Please pray that He uses me as His instrument. I want to spread the Word of

God, especially to our commu-nity.” EHC workers are looking to the future of Indonesia by reaching out to students of all ages through local schools. An outreach to stu-dents at several middle schools in Batam City drew 150 to Christ, and they are all enrolled in EHC’s Bible corre-spondence course. The students have formed student-led Christ Groups in the schools. Administrators in several schools have even asked EHC workers to help establish and lead Bible-study groups in their schools. “I could not

believe what hap-pened in my life,” shared a young high school girl named Irama. “Before I started the EHC Bible corre-spondence course I had no peace in my heart. I am thankful to the Lord Jesus Christ who loves me so much. I want other people to experience the same joy in their heart that I have in mine. When I graduate

from school I want to prepare myself for ministry by attend-ing a seminary or theological school. Although my par-ents may not permit me and will not finance me, I just trust the Lord. I believe that with Him, everything is possible.” Please pray for the ongoing Every Home Campaign in Indonesia.

Page 5: Nov 2008

Fulfilling the vision of Every Home for Christ requires EHC workers to take the Gospel to every home, even if a “home” is a prison. “We praise the Lord for our ministry at the local prison and the prison farms,” says EHC Director Dries du Plessis. “We see lives touched and changed every time we minister to the inmates.” A 21-year-old inmate named Mario was serving his fifth term in the Mahajanga prison when EHC workers touched and changed his life with the Gospel. “I didn’t know the Word of God, but after the preaching of an EHC worker, I was convicted,” Mario said. “I was later baptized by Pastor Dries from EHC. I praise God for saving me.” EHC has not only helped reach inmates with the Gospel, but ministers to them with humanitarian aid as well, providing food, clothing, blankets, mosquito nets, and even clean water for those who have been forgotten by their families and their jailers. “We praise the Lord for funds to dig a well near the prison farm outside our town,” Dries says. “Now the people can enjoy clean water, and it is also close to the prison village.” Beyond the prison walls, EHC workers are helping men and women to break free from chains of spiritual darkness through faith in Jesus Christ.

The Every Home Campaign in Madagascar has yielded 138,622 responses and prompted the formation of 1,226 village fellowships called Christ Groups. “We praise the Lord for all the Christ Groups and the new believers that were added last month,” Dries says. “We are sharing our vision with many churches, training and

equipping them with the necessary ministry tools to help them as they reach out to those who do not know of Christ. “ “We praise the Lord that His kingdom is advancing here in Madagascar,” Dries said. “Please continue to pray with us."

WHERE THERE’S

A WILL, THERE’S

A WAY Death should be our liveliest preoccupation—especially useful if it makes you concentrate on life. You don’t want to die feeling you haven’t lived, haven’t kept everything neat and tidy for those left behind. As the old proverb goes, “ If I were to die tomorrow, what would I wish to have done today?” MAKE A WILL, FOR ONE. You don’t have to be rich, famous, with one foot in the grave, or signing a death warrant to make a Will. It’s wise forethought. This is the only way of making certain that your worldly possessions go exactly where you want them to go, to save your loved ones from suffocating red tape, legal hassles, and unwelcome claimants. Without a Will it is possible to have left behind a split-at- the-seams-family and unseemly legal wrangles—all for the want of a Will.

A WILL IS NOT FOREVER You can revisit it as many times as you please. If you do not want to change the Will substantially, all you need is a Codicil with the changes. It makes sense to review your Will after you retire.

WHEN THERE IS NOT A WILL Your estate will be divided among your legal heirs according to the law of the country. Your heirs may have to spend long hours in court to take possession of their property. They will also probably have to pay legal advice.

INFORMATION At Every Home for Christ we have some information we can send you to help you in preparing your Will—this information is sent to you free of charge. EVERY HOME FOR CHRIST Also let me encourage you to pray about including Every Home for Christ in your Will. It’s a decision in your “lifetime” and I am sure you will be blessed just as you are now when you give a gift. May God guide you.
