Everything we can see or talk about is represented by a word which names it. That "naming word" is called a noun. Sometimes a noun will be the name for something we can touch (e.g., lion, cake, computer), and sometimes a noun will be the name for something we cannot touch (e.g., bravery, mile, joy). What Is A Singular Noun? A singular noun is a noun that refers to only one person, one place, one thing, or one idea. What is a Plural Noun? A plural noun is a word that indicates that there is more than one person, animal place, thing, or idea. When you talk about more than one of anything, you’re using plural nouns. When you write about more than one of anything, you usually use the same word, simply adding an s, es, or ies to the end. There are a few exceptions to this rule, but not many – one of the best is that a single moose is a moose, and a group of moose are still moose. Singular and Plural Nouns The difference between singular and plural nouns is easy to spot. When a noun indicates one only, it is a singular noun. When a noun indicates more than one, it is plural. What’s a noun?A noun is a word for a person, place, or thing. (You might like to think of nouns as naming words.)

This is Janet. These are my friends, John and Michael.
