Notre Dame (19-2-2) traveled a seldom- blazed trail to this year’s College Cup, going on the road to defeat a higher-ranked and higher- seeded opponent in its last two NCAA Cham- pionship matches, first picking off No. 3/4 (and top seed) North Carolina, 4-1 in the third round, and then ousting No. 6 (and third seed) Okla- homa State, 2-0 in last weekend’s quarterfinal.
