Batch
It is hereby notified that students of 10
th and 11
th batch have to follow the “Rules of Term Paper
Preparation-2017” while preparing their Term papers. The various datelines mentioned in the
Rule need to be strictly followed. BIGM will not take any responsibility for non-compliance of
the Rule.

Rules of Term Paper Preparation 2017
1. The topic of Term paper should be relevant to student’s respective programme of studies
(for example Governance and Public Policy (GPP), International Economic Relations
(IER) and Human Resource Management (HRM).
2. The students have to choose a specific topic from the broader list approved by BIGM (
list provided in BIGM website). Topics outside the list can also be chosen with prior
permission of the Institute ( Dr.Mohammad Tareque / Dr. Chowdhury Saleh Ahmed)
3. Term paper has to be prepared in accordance to BIGM Term Paper Guidelines (enclosed
and also can be seen in BIGM website).
a) The decision to take either Thesis or Term paper has to be finalized within the
first month of the start of 3rd
semester of each batch. (Relaxed up to 3 months of
the start of 3rd
semester for 10th
batch).
b) Student opting for Term paper has to select a specific topic and submit the draft
proposal within the 3rd
semester. (Relaxed up to 1st month of the start of 4
th
semester for 10th
batch).
c) Students may discuss with concerned BIGM faculty regarding the selection of
topic and writing of the proposal.
4. BIGM will appoint Guide/ Mentor for each of the Term paper writer. The Guide/Mentor
and the student will indulge in regular discussions during the Term paper preparation
time.

5. The student will have to submit final draft (2 spiral bound copies) of the Term paper (after
taking approval of the respective Guide/Mentor) to BIGM before start of the Final
examination of 4th
semester without fail.
a) BIGM will form Term Paper Evaluation Committee comprising of two faculties
(with exclusion of respective Guide/Mentor) to evaluate and grade the each of the
term paper.
b) BIGM will evaluate, grade and submit result of Term paper along with results of
other course works of the semester.
6. After obtaining consent of the Term paper examination committee, the student has to
submit 3 bound copies of Term paper to the Institute (prepared in accordance to BIGM
approved Guideline enclosed herewith and available in BIGM website ) within 1 week.
7. BIGM will not take any responsibility for any consequence of delayed or no submission of
Term paper.
8. Plagiarism in term paper writing will be strictly dealt with and may result in expulsion of
the student from the Institute.

Guidelines of Term Paper
The style of writing in the Term paper is mentioned in Annex-1.
Term Paper should contain the following:
Title Title should be chosen in a way so that it matches with the main theme/subject matter of the term paper Preface
List of Abbreviation
Table of Contents
Abstract Essence or gist to be mentioned here in maximum of 1 page.
Chapters
Chapter: Introduction to the subject
Brief description of the phenomenon being studied in the term paper
Justification of the study
Objective of the Term paper
Chapter 2: Review of Literature
At least 2/3 relevant contemporary literatures need to be reviewed to understand
frontiers of knowledge in the field.
Chapter 3: Methodology
Theoretical background, sampling procedure, sources of information, etc.
Chapter 4: Data Collection
Primary data/secondary data collection techniques- retrieval process,
updating/modifications, validation.

Chapter 5: Analyses and Syntheses
Application of Statistical tools and methods, Presentation of data, tabular, graphical etc.
presentations.
Chapter 6: Findings of the Study/ Lessons Learnt
Findings e.g., information and knowledge obtained from the analyses and synthesis.
Chapter 7: Policy Recommendation
Suggesting policy formulation
Chapter 8: Summary and Conclusion
