CHAPER 1

It all began in a big city called Toledo in 756, at that time it was

the capital of Spain. It was a city surrounded by a wall and

around a long, flowing river. In the city there were many houses,

small, the other giant,

etc. The city also had

many beautiful

buildings and

important churches,

cathedrals, palaces, markets...

In it, there was a small stone house in which it lived a not very

rich, rather poor family and this family had its

own business. The master of the house was called

Ferran and he devoted more time to the business,

and he was good at carpentry and was an expert

at building things with wood as buildings, objects,

tables, etc.

His daughter, Saurina was 19 and could always help his father in

carpentry. Saurina was a cute young girl. She had a nice long

dark hair. Her eyes were green and beneath them could see a

small nose. She was beautiful! She was very concerned about

taking the black plague because at that time it was easy to suffer

it, and as her family was poor and did not have much hygiene

they could take it. She was one of the best officers in the business

because his father, as he was the teacher, helped her a lot and was

very grateful to her.

CHAPTER 2

One sunny day, Saurina get up to go

working in his house. Then, when she was

in the shop one stylish gentleman appeared

in the shop. He looked like she’s age. He

was a noble about 21 years, and he was

living in a very big palace. He was

dressing with a long and white shirt, which it gave the perfect

touch. He had a brown hair, and the eyes were very beatifull,

with a blue color and it looked likes the water in a transparent

river. Also he was tall and beautifull. He was the perfect

boyfriend for Saurina.

Saurina he stayed paralyzed when he view him. And she quickly

attended him, and because she was very beautiful the boy was

fixed in her, and Saurina said

-Hello, what do you need?

-Hello my name is Gerald and I am searching some wood to satisfy

my father.

-What type of wood do you want?

-One that remember me you.

-This is very beautiful! This type of wood is the best in the city. In

time does not wear.

-Can you give me this type?

-Of course.

-Thanks.

- Your welcome.

-By the way did you want to come in my house to eat tonight?

-Yes I want, there I will be.

The girl was very excited, never she imagines a guy so hands

invited him to go in a palace. Gerald entered in the house with the

wood and then he said to his father that a very beautiful girl will

go that evening in the palace to eat with all the family.

CHAPTER 3

When the hour of the dinner arrived Saurina put the best dress

that she had and she was very beautiful. When she arrived in the

palace all nervous and happy Gerald open him the door like a

good gentleman, as was educated to do it. The palace was very big

with a stairs in each end of the central corridor and they entered

in it. They crossed two rooms and finally they arrived in a room

that it had a very big table with a very exquisite food that the

girl never looked.

The dinner was fantastic and the girl spoils it when she said that

she works in the shop and that

she’s family was a little poor.

The fathers in the first moment

stayed in silent because they

don’t believed that the girl can

be a part of this family, but

then the fathers talk with Gerald and they accept the girl because

she was very lovely. Then, they said goodbye and the girl go to her

house very happiness about the dinner.

CHAPTER 4

When Saurina go to his house after his dinner with Gerald she

noticed lumps in her foot and when she looked them she looked

that the food was inflated and In 20 minutes she looked that they

didn’t improve and she decided to talk about it with her father.

Her father looked the food and he was scared and he said:

-Since when do you have it?

-Some days ago but I could

withstand it, but today when

I arrived it aspect has

worsened and I am very

scared.

Her father was very scared

because he thinks that his daughter can had “THE BLACK

DEATH”. But he decided to don’t say anything to Saurina because

he did not want to scare her.

Saurina every time it was more ill and finally she falls down. Her

father, when he looks her quickly he talk with the neighbor if he

can look after her daughter when he talks with Gerald.

The father goes in the palace to talk with Gerald and explain to

him what happened.

When Gerald saw him so frightened he answer what happened

and he explains that Saurina was very ill and he suspects that it

had “THE BLACK DEATH” and that didn’t be a good thing.

Gerald’s father was close and he goes to talk with theme and he

said that they want to search a doctor for Saurina immediately.

But this thing Ferran not could afford it and when Gerald’s father

looked at his daughter and he sees a worried face he did not

hesitate to say that he pay the doctor.

Saurina’s father was very grateful, about Saurina, but his

daughter still ill and he was very worried about her.

Sabrina tried to do a n effort for onto but it was useless. The

neighbour was skilled in healing people and he the neighbour did a

bandage and Saurina wasn’t more anxious.

When her father returned home see that her daughter was

relaxed and they thing it was a good moment to moved Saurina

to the palace.

VII

CHAPTER 5:

As Gerald and his father decided to pay the doctors and the

alchemists to investigate what happened Saurina, so she was also

moved to the palace.

Once in the palace, the girl was still very bad but his father knew

the Black Death and he knew the symptoms of this disease and all

corresponded with the Black Death. She vomited many times, she

got lumps in her feet and groin, and she got temperature. Because

of her bad luck, the doctors came with their white coats and their

face masks; they confirmed that she had the Black Death.

The doctors said that the Black Death began with a flea’s bite, and

this disease was caused by the absence of hygiene.

Everybody was down in the dump, but nobody throw in the towel,

and they asked the doctors for what to do to get her better.

At any rate, Gerald’s family were very rich and, surely they

could pay the treatment and they asked the doctors and the

alchemists:

- Is there any treatment to improve her health?

- We don’t know if it would work correctly, but to make the

symptoms improve, we know a ritual with fire that would not

make her any damage. At least, she will feel better and she will

keep on doing a normal life, but she will have to improve her

hygiene.

Saurina thanked a lot Gerald and his father all the things they

were doing for her. Then, they did the ritual. The doctor danced

his hands around her feet and with the hit of the fire inside a

glass. After that, he put a powder on her feet.

After few days, she became to feel better, and she could pass more

days with Gerald.

IX

CHAPTER SIX:

Two years later....

Saurina and Gerald were in love and the carpentry improved

because the parents of Gerald became friends with Ferran. The

carpentry transformed into the best one in Toledo and everything

was going great and Saurina and Gerald decided to get married.

It was a strange news because a lot of people met Gerald and his

family and people couldn’t believe that Gerald got married with a

poor girl.

Ferran’s wife, Ferran and Saurina became a very prestigious

family because their family-run was working so good.

This is the end of this story. Everything ended okay and that’s all!
