PRINCIPALS RECOGNITION A huge thanks goes to Miss Willott and Mrs Shaw for doing an outstanding job in organising and running our school athletics carnival last Thursday. I’m not sure if people realise the amount of work that goes on prior to the event, but it is huge! Both Miss Willott and Mrs Shaw have spent many hours of their time preparing for the carnival which is the reason it ran so well. I also thank the staff and parents who were judges, time keepers, recorders, marshals, starters, on crowd control, cooks and helpers in the canteen or announcers. It was a great team and we all worked together to ensure our students had a fantastic day! Working together as partners in the education of your child. PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

School Athletics Carnival The fog lifted and the sun shone all day which we were very grateful for. As usual, our athletics carnival was a great day which everyone enjoyed. As usual, I was particularly proud of the way our students supported each other and participated in so many of the running events. It is always pleasing to see so many parents attend the carnival to support their children. Thank you!

Congratulations to 3W who are the winners of this week’s class shield. They are congratulated for their great listening throughout the week. Clara Bromfield, Caleb Cashman and Amelia Thomas accepted the shield on behalf of 3W.

The following children will be presented with their Striving Higher Awards at the assembly this Friday, 27th May at 12pm. 5 Awards Charlie Miller, Deklan Davis, Lachlan Martin, Chloe Hill, Campbell Davis, Alice Christie-Johnston, Brodie Cashman, Angus Tobin, Hollie Ruming, Connor Corkery, Jessie Maiava, Amelia Willis, Max Carter, Chloe Thomas, Nate Barnes, Brody Johnson. PSSA Rugby League

On Friday 14 intrepid Rugby League reps travelled to Cowra to play Mulyan Public School. In spite of facing a team of seeming giants, 6 of whom are Western representatives the Raglan boys excelled themselves. They kept their heads up and gave 100% effort (and more!) until the final whistle was blown. I’ve never been more proud of a RPS team, not only were they gallant in defeat they showed courage and determination beyond their years. A special mention must go to our captain Jhye Akroyd who was nothing short of outstanding both in play and leadership of his team. Well done boys – I’m exceedingly proud of each and every one of you! My thanks also to the parents who provided transport and especially Brad and Brendan for their official roles. Mrs Carole Shaw

School Netball Cup

On Friday the 20th 2 Raglan teams competed at the 2016 School Cup Netball Carnival held in Bathurst. This is a highly and competitively contested event that saw teams from both public, catholic and private schools play 6 games each vying for a ticket to the state cup. Our teams once again represented Raglan Public School with both skill and sportsmanship. It was wonderful to watch the students not only support their own teams but other schools that they have come to know over the netball season. I am proud of each and every student who played on Friday. A special thanks must go to Britt Cullen-Ward who managed the Division B team all day with a smile providing support that the players were so lucky to have. Also to the parents who have transported the children to venues and were the first port of call for any jobs needing to be done. Lastly, once again, thank you to Minna Annand who not only umpires for us, but is an exemplary mentor. It was so wonderful to see that our Raglan students feed directly into the Kelso High Netball teams for both girls and boys and continue to represent us so proudly and positively. Netball has a big future at Raglan. Mrs Natalie Cross
