Notes from the PREP Office November 1, 2016 www.mmredeemer.org/prep/ “To Jesus through Mary.” Attachments this week: *An Election Day Prayer The month of All Saints November is the month of all saints. The Bible doesn’t teach us to pray to the saints (Matt. 6:6 ), through the saints (1 Tim. 2:5 ) or for saints who have already gone to heaven. Instead, we remember the saints and to allow the testimony of their faith spur us on to deeper worship and greater ser- vice to the Lord. Hebrews 11 gives us examples of the great cloud of witnesses who are called so, not because they are watching us, but because they testify of God's grace to them. These saints of the past remind us: "God is faithful." "The Lord is good, trust always in Him." "God's grace was sufficient for me and it will be for you too." The saints are “people of the Beatitudes.” Our catechists will be focusing on the Beatitudes quite a bit this month. Here is version that we found that is easy for the little ones to understand: Sacraments: Confirmation: Confirmation dates are Friday, April 28, 2017 and Saturday, April 29, 2017. All applications MUST be accompanied by the sponsor’s certificate of eligi- bility. There is NO photo release this year, as that was already taken care of on everyone’s re-registration forms. Dates to Remember: Saturday, March 25, 2017: Confirmation Student Retreat. All Confirmation students will attend the retreat from 9:00am 1:00pm. Please be aware that this date has been changed!! Monday, November 14, 2016: Confirmation Par- ents’ Meeting @ 7:00pm in the church. PLEASE NOTE: This date has been changed from the 7 th to the 14 th . Sunday, December 4, 2016: Confirmation Presentation Mass @ 12:30pm Mass. First Holy Communion: We are continuing to accept applications. Space is available at ALL Masses at this time. Remember: You will be notified ONLY if we cannot honor the Mass you request! Penance: First Penance for our second graders will be held February 21 st and 22 nd , 2017. The children will receive with their PREP class at the normal PREP time. Tuesday Session 6 th Grade Classes: Tonight, Tuesday, Nov. 1st at 5:00pm in the church, our 6th graders will once again treat us to an All Saints Parade in the church. They have been working hard on this, and every year it is a treat for us to watch this parade. Please join us!

*An Election Day Prayer

The month of All Saints November is the month of all saints. The Bible doesn’t teach us to pray to the saints (Matt. 6:6), through the saints (1 Tim. 2:5) or for saints who have already gone to heaven. Instead, we remember the saints and to allow the testimony

of their faith spur us on to deeper worship and greater ser-vice to the Lord. Hebrews 11 gives us examples of the great cloud of witnesses who are called so, not because they are watching us, but because they testify of God's grace to them. These saints of the past remind us:

"God is faithful."

"The Lord is good, trust always in Him."

"God's grace was sufficient for me and it will be for you too."

The saints are “people of the Beatitudes.” Our catechists will be focusing on the Beatitudes quite a bit this month. Here is version that we found that is easy for the little ones to understand:

easily!

Living the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy Mrs. Higgin’s Wednesday evening 4th grade class has been busy living the Works of Mercy! The peanut butter and jelly drive (feed the hungry) net-ted 47 jars of jelly and 71 jars of peanut butter for Fr. Tom’s Parish food pantry. Last week the students practiced “Counseling the doubt-ful” by writing “words of encouragement” on slips of paper, attaching them to Dum Dum lollipops, and dis-tributing them to the other students in the program!

During the month of No-vember, Mrs. Higgin’s class will conduct a hat and glove collection (clothe the naked)

and a book collection (instruct the ignorant). Stay tuned for more details!
