WOW, DOUBLE WOW, BACKWARDS WOW

What an awesome day we had Sunday. From the moment that folks started gathering for worship yesterday there was an excitement brew-ing. God certainly did not disappoint, and he certainly showed up in typical fashion and blessed us in a great way. My thanks to Nancy Daniel and all of her committee for putting all of this together. It was a meaningful day, thanks be to God and thank you one and all who participated and led in any part of the service.

Then it was my honor and privilege to baptize Keena Seivers Sunday after-noon at Stephens Chapel UMC.

Thanks to all who came to witness that and support her. The day ended with more than 170 youth and adults from across the Murfreesboro District com-ing for the District Youth Rally. This was an awesome time of food, fellowship, worship, and learning. Thanks to a score of people who worked together and made this happen and thanks be to God who blessed their efforts.

Meeting 7:00 pm

A NOTE FROM DANA… Thomas Jefferson once said

“Patriotism is not a short

and frenzied burst of emotion

but the long and steady dedi-

cation of a lifetime.” I

thought we had a very mov-

ing and powerful tribute to

our Veterans this past Sun-

day. Thanks to Nancy

Daniel and the History/

Archives Committee for

working so diligently to plan

and help implement this past

Sunday’s service!

I never served in the mili-

tary. My dad served in the

U.S. Navy (in the Construc-

tion Battalion) and I had a

brother (Jeff) who also

served in the Navy. I even

Jay Newton, Terra Bingham, Allen Stone,

Michael Starr, Landon Norwood, Nick Hill,

Cameron Wainright, Craig Johnson, Justin

Hendrix, and all in the military

and their families.

Operation Christmas Child

Printed boxes are at the welcome center by the

tree. Of course you may cover a shoe box, or use

the plastic shoeboxes as you have before. We will

be praying and dedicating the boxes at the altar

during the service on Sunday November 15, so

please have your box ready by that morning.

Thank You and Bless you for helping make these

children’s Christmas a little brighter and by help-

ing to share the life changing good news of

Jesus Christ.

had an uncle (a career Navy

man) who was at Pearl Harbor

when the attack took place in

December, 1941. He had many

stories about that day. These

and countless thousands of

men and women have served

(and are serving in) our mili-

tary branches to keep America

great and free.

I have a very healthy respect

for these folk. I hope that you

will join me in a prayer for our

Veterans this Veteran’s day to

thank God for their service, to

appeal to God for their safety,

and to thank God for the free-

doms we have in our country

because of their work.

Need Help With Your Operation Christmas Child Box?

If you need help shopping for your Operation Christ-mas Child Boxes, just let Miss Cindy know! I would be happy to pack some boxes for anyone who would

like for me to do their shopping. Just tell me how many boxes you would like to fill and how much you

would like to spend, and I will be happy to as-

sist. Thanks for making children a priority!

You may begin ordering poinset-

tias to be placed on the altar in memory of or in honor of loved

ones. You may call the church office to order: 728-4624, or you may fill out a form that has been placed

in the card holder behind each pew.

Each poinsettia is $5.00.

Sallie O’Neal Anniversary Fellowship

will meet at the home of Kaye Tracy Monday, Nov. 16 at 7 PM. We will meet at the church front parking lot at

6:40 PM for those who wish to car pool. Contact Debra Thorington at 728-4187 if you plan to car pool. All ladies are welcome!

SNL sure did spread a lot of love last night! Last night was a "Just like Jesus" night. We had some important jobs on our plate! We made lap blankets for nursing home residents, we wrote letters to the recipients of Operation Christmas Child boxes, and we filled 10 shoe boxes of love for little girls and boys who are not as fortunate as we are. At the end of the night, every child went home with a "Just Like Jesus" necklace for their hard work. The kids are supposed to wear these to school and in-vite one friend to our next SNL meeting.

Your children are working hard on the Christmas play. They have learned several lessons from this play already. They have learned what it means to "pay it forward", they have learned what a Jesse tree is, and they have learned how to become a member of Jesus' family tree. What a tremendous learning opportunity this is! Thank you for letting your child participate in this activity. Don't forget that our next long rehearsal will be Friday, November 20 from 5:00-9:00.

This week, in our Orange curriculum, we look at a familiar story in John 6:1-13. This is the story of the little boy's small offering of loaves and fishes and how Jesus used what this child had. The

learning point of the story is: Use what you have to lend a hand. Kids may not think they have much to give, but God can use what they do have to accomplish something great. Our memory verse is Mat-thew 5:16, "Let your light shine so others can see it. They will see the good things you do. And they will bring glory to your Father who is in heaven." I'm so glad that the parents of First United Methodist Church let their little "lights" come to our Sunday School program! I look forward to working

with them each week. See you Sunday!

Cindy Lamb, Director of Children’s Ministries

My heart is still full from last nights Murfreesboro district youth rally. It was a great time and a great turn out. Thank you to everybody who came to help and participate in any way. I have tried not to leave anybody out again if I did please know that it was not on purpose. I appreciate all the support that this church shows to me personally and the church youth program. I could not do my job well with out all of the support from you the congre-gation. A BIG SHOUT OUT and THANK YOU to the following peo-ple Reesa Brown, Rachel Brown, Bro. Randy, Judy Brooks, Karla Childs, Aunt B, Holly Jones, Ami Shedd, Dana Brooks, Nona Jarratt, Melissa Leedy, Matt Duran,

LeAnna Truesdale, Marie Kimble, Mark Yother, Rob Tessier, Devon Tessier, Steven Marshall, Brayden Gray, Sarah Leedy, Makayla Rose, Brad Fis-cus, Russell Johnson Kristi John-son. God really showed up and showed out last night and if you missed it you really missed out. It is that time of year again where we pack and ship Opera-tion Christmas Child boxes; we will be packing our shoe boxes on Wednesday November 18, 2015. Therefore, if you want to donate some items but not nec-essarily pack the box then I have a solution for you. Bring your items up to the church and give them to me, and the youth will

be more than happy to pack the box for you. Just another friendly re-minder, youth group, youth trips, and youth outings are for STU-DENTS in the 6th grade through the 12th grade. Any STUDENT younger than 6th grade is invited and en-couraged to attend and participate in the children’s ministry of Man-chester FUMC. I will soon have the 2015 updated calendar and the 2016 youth ministry calendar final-izes this time next week so be on the lookout for it. If you have any questions, comments or concerns please do not hesitate to let me know as soon as a problem comes up. Thank you for allowing me to join you on this life journey.
