1. Training Task discussion : All of you have to read this carefully. I made comments in detail on every article in the training file. If anyone have any ideas or comments just write it right below my post. 2. Inclusion & Exclusion Criterias: This is very important. I have summarized and made a complete criteria list for our screening step. Please read carefully to have a good decision when you perform the screening step.3. Final excel data (made by Anh Hoang Nguyen): please USE this file in the screening step.Hint: Many of you lacks of experience when perform the screening step so I will give some small hints:1. When you screen the abstract in Endnote, some of them do not contain abstract info (most of them come from Goolge scholar). Please copy the title and search in Google or Pubmed library to find the abstract. If you can't find, please note it in the Excel file "0 (can't find abstract)"2. Some articles do not contain abstract and you see data like this: "94th Annual Meeting of the American Association for Cancer ResearchJuly 11-14, 2003Washington, DC, USA"--> This is the poster, you do not need to search for abstract in Google or Pubmed. 3. We only need the frequency or number of targeted mutations so please DO NOT count the oncogene EXPRESSION in our data. For example: If you see the article mentioned about RET ONCOGENE expression, please ignore it. We only need datas for RET rearrangement (or translocation or fusion - synonym terms used in some studies).***Inclusion: 1-all articles were published up to now 2-articles containing information about PREVALENCE (or FREQUENCY) , NUMBER of BRAF OR RET OR RAS mutation in PAPILLARY THYROID CARCINOMA. 3-no restriction is made with respect to language , age, mutation detecting methods, tissue origin (FFPE, FNAB, or Frozen tissues) and study designs.Careful: - We only need the frequency or number of MUTATIONS so do not count oncogene expression in this study.- Some studies regarding mutations in complex tumors (for example: tumors containing both papillary carcinoma and other carcinoma components) should be included in this study. We will decide when we read full-textAttention: Additional Inclusion criteria: no restriction is made with respect to TISSUE ORIGIN (for example: Formalin-Fixed Paraffin Embedded (FFPE) OR Fine needle Aspiration (FNA) OR Frozen tissues...)***Exclusion:1- Studies involved in mutations in other types of thyroid cancer OR studies focused on one specific variant of PTC (For example: Follicular variant PTC or Cribriform-morular PTC...) OR studies focused on a specific clinicopathological parameter (For example: Studies of BRAF mutation in Lymph node metastatic PTC or extrathyroidal extension PTC....)Careful: Many studies detected mutations in various kinds of thyroid histology subtype, from malignancy to bengin tumor. If PTC cases were included in these studies, you have to pick up these studies.2-studies made on animals3-Studies involved in possible etiologies of thyroid tumorigenesis (For example: studies about RET/PTC rearrangement in areas surrounding Chernobyl following the nuclear accident)Careful: Some studies compared the mutation prevalence of population in areas surrounding Chernobyl with population in areas NOT related with Chernobyl accident. These studies should be added to the screening list because we can use the data from areas NOT related with the nuclear accident.4- Familial papillary thyroid carcinoma5- data could not be extracted 6- data considerd as overlapping 7- Case report, conference, poster and reviews8- Additional Exclusion criteria: BRAF or RAS or RET/PTC studied in a specific clinicopathological parameter: for example: studies of BRAF mutation in Lymph node metastatic PTC ....1.
