Do we have to look at how this happens liter- ally? Or can we understand it without knowing anything about yeast? In reality we can understand it either way; by knowing that yeast can change how flour acts or by simply listening to the image that is created. We can see that Jesus is saying that a little bit of faith lived out in our actions and lives can change everything about us and our lives. This parable is placed in the middle of the one on the wheat & weeds and Je- susexplanation of it to address the fears that story brings up. In that story Jesus acknowledges that we live in a world with both good and bad, and that it is not our job to pull the weeds. A reality that causes most listeners to ask the question so what can we do? To which Jesus responds by reminding his listeners that just a little bit of faith will be enough for them to make a dif- ference in a world that is not yet per- fect. And even while Jesus gives us what can appear to be an overwhelming re- sponsibility he reminds us that we dont have to be the biggest and strongest or most faith filled person to accomplish it. In fact he suggest a much simpler way - simply start with the faith you have, and allow it to guide your actions. As you apply your faith to you life you will see Gods faithfulness, and that will give you the courage to apply it to more of your life - and God will be faithful again, and again. So that little bit of faith you have will become enough to bless your whole life. Enough to make a difference in a world that needs to know that hope exists. Enough to help you faithfully follow God to the life he has planned for you. Enough to face the challenges of today and tomorrow. That little bit is in reality more than enough. What is the small step you are ready to take in faith, that you may see the amazing things that God will do in your life. Note from the Pastor

Matt 12:33 - “The Kingdom of heav-en is like yeast that a woman took and hid in a large tub of flour until it made all the dough rise.” This passage can often leave us uncertain if we under-stand what Jesus is saying. Do we have to look at how this happens liter-ally? Or can we understand it without knowing anything about yeast? In reality we can understand it either way; by knowing that yeast can change how flour acts or by simply listening to the image that is created. We can see that Jesus is saying that a little bit of faith lived out in our actions and lives can change everything about us and our lives. This parable is placed in the middle of the one on the wheat & weeds and Je-sus’ explanation of it to address the fears that story brings up. In that story Jesus acknowledges that we live in a world with both good and bad, and that it is not our job to pull the weeds. A reality that causes most listeners to ask the question so what can we do? To which Jesus responds by reminding his listeners that just a little bit of faith will be enough for them to make a dif-ference in a world that is not yet per-fect.

And even while Jesus gives us what can appear to be an overwhelming re-sponsibility he reminds us that we don’t have to be the biggest and strongest or most faith filled person to accomplish it. In fact he suggest a much simpler way - simply start with the faith you have, and allow it to guide your actions. As you apply your faith to you life you will see God’s faithfulness, and that will give you the courage to apply it to more of your life - and God will be faithful again, and again.

We celebrate the baptism of Harper Jolee Prescott, and

welcome her to our family of believers.

Happy New Year! We hope you were able to attend the Christmas Program in which the kids shared music, laughter, and fun! If not, maybe you were able to attend Christmas Eve service and see the Christmas video the Youth were able to put together! Either way, we hope you were able to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior while surrounded by loved ones. May 2018 continue to bless you! So January we kicked off Wacky Wednesdays with a bash that included popcorn and a mov-ie! The kids really enjoyed it! Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to get back to lessons and classrooms due to all the illness going around. Classes were cancelled on the 17th but resume on the 24th. We pray that we can all get well quickly or avoid all the illness! We are in dire need of additional volunteers working with the Preschool to 4th graders. With the increasing number of children each week, we are needing the extra hands! If you can ded-icate one (1) Wednesday a month to the program, we can work a rotation out to fit your schedule! Please contact Brooke at 620-285-1328 and pray we gain those additional helpers needed! Continue to look for the exciting projects in this upcoming year! Celebrations to include Lent, Easter, and all too soon, an end of the year event!

My my how time flies, sure hope that you are having a blessed time like I am. And yes it has been fun. January is a not so distant memory, a New Year has dawned and I pray that it brings some positive results to some of the is-sues that we have been faced with. I for one PRAY for good endings. February is the time of the year for Valen-tines to be handed out and do not forget to thank the one and devote your love to the one that gave His all and who gave Him to us. Thank you God for your Son and your love bestowed upon every one of us. I really don’t know of any projects coming up or and events that have been planned, but hopefully we will continue to look to God and ask Him what we should be doing for each other and help-ing out our neighbors. Well, have a good February re-member your loved ones and pray for our country and our members of our churches. God bless you all and take care till next month. Happy Valentine Day. Elaine

Leadership Finance is working on building a plan for the future. It includes putting in place investments that will sus-tain the witness of our church for many generations. This includes the Birthday & Anniversary fund which when it reaches a set amount will be invested.

Leadership Development celebrates all of the leaders who are willing to help build ministries and connect-ed people to our family.

Trustees continues to work on the G2G projects, and have also had to address a second leak at the par-

sonage. Resulting in the replacement of the water lines. A new washing machine was purchased. We will be installing programable thermostats through-out the church to be more efficient, and are moving forward with some of the small G2G projects around the church getting doors and counter tops replaced.

All leadership teams will have met on January 28th to set goals for 2018.

Generous Giving by Rose M. Shelton

Remember this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. ~2 Corinthians 9:6-8 I was one who never pledged when the time came as I felt that what I gave was between God and myself. After serving as treasurer for several years and serving on the finance committee I began to see the importance of the pledge, no matter the amount. The budget depends on pledges so we can plan to meet the goals of the many wonderful programs the church has going: Wacky Wednesday, Vacation Bible School, Children’s Church,

etc. There are also the everyday bills: heat, lights and keeping up the appearance of our wonderful building, which is used by many other groups in the our community: Scouts, blood mobile, etc. Generous giving is self beneficial and is God pleasing and is also confident, that giving is right and that God will supply all of your needs. DON’T FORGET: You have been challenged to give a small gift in honor of your wedding anniver-saries and birthdays. Have the kids bring their pennies to place in the challenge jar on their birthdays during worship.
