Business is
Booming in Dubai
Oil was discovered there
in 1966; that was just
the start! Dubai is
apparently the fastest growing city in
the world. And it certainly seemed like
it when Notary Basil Preuveneers and
LisaP for the MyNotary Network
were there on 2nd December - UAE’s
42nd National Day.
Dubai has attracted world attention
through many innovative large
construction projects and events.
Dubai has been named as the host city
for Expo 2020; we at Notary Co uk
think this will further fuel the pace of
growth in the region, opening up even
more business opportunities. See

Sad for us, but the grade 2 listed
building - Grosvenor Gardens
House with its mid-Victorian
French Renaissance exterior - is being
emptied in readiness for being turned
back from office accommodation to
mansion apartments. Grosvenor
Gardens House, our home for the last 4
years, is allegedly to be where HM
Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother was
born.
We are sorry to be leaving our office
with the view over the gardens and its
sunny disposition. But we are not going
far – just around the corner as of January
2014.
And we will have much more
space and our own door from the street
– so no more navigating the reception
signing in process – just come on up to
the first floor.
As always, our door is always open
from 9 o’clock to 5.30, Monday to
Friday. And, as always, evening and
weekend appointments can be arranged
– just ask.
Everything else stays the same – the
same fast and efficient service, the same
approachable notary team to help with
every aspect of the process – a full
legalisation service, an express service, a
return by courier service and a we-
come-to-you corporate service.
We have moved just around the corner
How to find usBuckingham Palace Road A3214
We are at the Palace end of this rather
long road.
We are still just a few minutes’ walk
from Victoria main line and underground
stations. If you turn left from the station
you will find yourself at the junction of
Buckingham Palace Road, Victoria Street
and Grosvenor Gardens.
Look for Balls Brothers - the wine bar
on the corner of Grosvenor Gardens and
Buckingham Palace Road – then walk
along BPR towards the Palace. Walk past
Eaton Lane and some shops; we are on
the left side of the road. Our front door is
positioned between William Hill on our
left and Montepio Portuguese Bank to
our right. More at www.notary.co.uk

The current Law Society
president Nicholas Fluck says:
“Solicitors make up a sizeable
portion of the professional fabric of
the City of London and as a
distinguished solicitor herself, the
appointment of Fiona Woolf is very
positive for the profession.
Fiona represents a new era of
modern leadership and will be an
ambassador for the City of London
and an advocate for the important
role the legal profession plays in its
success.”

Business is Booming
in Dubai formation firms and local translators.
The system of ‘double’ legalisation
and how to minimise such problems
was talked about. Sometimes
documents we at Notary Co UK have
notarised, apostilled and stamped at
the UAE Embassy in London still
have to be presented to the Minister
of Justice in Dubai for further
verification.

Services we provide
for United Arab Emirates1. For individuals planning to
move to the UAE: we certify all kinds
of important documents required by
employers - including passports, birth
and marriage certificates, certified
copies of academic certificates and
professional references – and arrange
legalisation at the Foreign and
Commonwealth Office and the UAE
Embassy in London.
2. For British citizens buying or
selling property in the UAE: we draft,
witness and certify Powers of Attorney
and other personal documents for
purchase, sale and registration of
property - and assist with all the
translation and legalisation formalities.
3. For corporate clients with
business interests in the UAE: we
notarise company Powers of Attorney,
board resolutions and contracts and
certify copies of your Certificates of
Incorporation, Memorandum and
Articles of Association - and can assist
with all the translation and legalisation
formalities.
4. We also offer an express
legalisation service for offshore
companies registered in the BVI,
Cayman Islands, Jersey, Bermuda and
other British Overseas Territories and
Crown Dependencies. Documents
from these offshore jurisdictions will
only be accepted in the UAE after
certification from the UAE embassy in
London, and we provide a fast and
efficient service to navigate these
complex requirements.
Congratulations to the new

November 2013: Alderman
Fiona Woolf CBE is the Lord Mayor

second woman to hold the role
since 1189. The first was Mary
Donaldson in 1983.
Notary Co UK’s Basil

Basil & Lisa visiting Dubai in
December 2013
Historically built on the
oil industry; the
Emirate's western-style
model of business now drives its
economy with revenues coming
from tourism, financial services and
it being a transport hub for
passengers and cargo.
There are many opportunities
for foreign owned businesses to
start-up or to expand by opening
branch or representative offices of
foreign commercial companies and
opportunities for individuals to
work and take home a tax free
salary!

Getting documents – even obtaining
certified copies of academic
certificates - is at best a long winded
process; at worst – impossible as
the British Consulate in Dubai has
stopped providing a number of such
services.
