NCRG President’s Message December2019
Pam and I hope that you all have had a splendid Christmas Season and are heartened to begin the new
year 2020 with high spirits and challenging resolutions. I for one, plan on losing ten pounds. I say that every
year, but this year, it is a go. Really!
And now onto the real world. As we discussed at the last NCRG meeting in Santa Rosa, traditional Roundups
are becoming difficult to do. So, we have been encouraging our chapters to get creative and try to host smaller,
less complicated and more affordable events. In response to that, the Sonora A’s have announced that they are
hosting an event next summer, June 6 and 7, in the Sonora area. There will be more information and registra-
tion materials available in Turlock, but here are some highlights:
Due to limited accommodations, registration will be limited to the first 100 registrations meaning approxi-
mately 200 people.
There will be a reception on Saturday along with some events.
There will be more events and a banquet on Sunday.
Some of the events are: car games, poker run, self-guided tours, and steam train ride.
There will be a pick-a-prize.
The host hotel is the Black Oak Casino.
There will be no judging of fashions or cars but the Sonora A’s will encourage registrants to show off their era
duds at any and all events.
The NCRG Board has agreed to provide financial support in the way of a loan for pre-event costs which will
be returned to the treasury at the completion of the event. And also a grant From NCRG to partner with the
Sonora A’s for the costs of the banquet or welcome reception. It is important to note that this support will be
available to any chapter wishing to host an event and is not limited to one per year.
While we encourage any chapter willing and able to host a traditional Roundup, a less complicated event may
be the way of the future. NCRG has the money to support these events, so please think about ways your chap-
ter can participate.
Happy New Year and See you in Turlock
Jim Costello

tion carries.

Old Business
2018 National Convention – Al Stoll. Final financial summary covered in Treasurer’s report.
Hosting the next NCRG regional meet or Roundup - Jim Costello. Several ideas were presented by members
but no confirmed volunteer chapter stepped forward yet. Suggestions included 1 or 2 overnight stays with
tours or gymkhana or Hubley and a banquet; weekend of only fashion and car judging; annual or biannual
event at one designated venue and hosted by different chapters; HUB tours hosted by several chapters; coor-
dinate with CCRG and NWRG for years and timing; touring and meals and maybe seminars- similar to Lake
Co. Spring Opener or CCRG Jamboree. Bring suggestions back to your chapters and see if members are will-
ing to host any type of regional event. Final comment from Jim – Times have changed from when NCRG
NORTHERN WHEELS NCRG NEWSLETTER PAGE 5
Roundup was formed and fashioned after the National convention and we need to look at all alternatives to
survive and encourage our youth.
New Business
NCRG Board election in 2020 – Jim Costello would like to see more representation from chapters in cities
and urban areas. Current board members are in rural or suburban areas. Consider serving a 2 year term at the
next election in 2020. Contact him if you will consider being a candidate.
Proposal to add a quorum for member meetings to the Bylaws – Jim Costello & Al Stoll. Current bylaws do
not address the number of chapters needed for a vote at a general meeting. Proposed wording with a blank
number or % of chapters needed for a vote was previously sent to chapter reps and presidents and discussed.
Motion by Rich Zell to set a quorum at 1/3 of the number of chapters in NCRG for a general meeting. 2nd
Tom Rut. Motion carries. Review of current bylaws by Al notes that in all matters requiring a membership
vote, the procedure shall be by hand count, secret ballot, or an absentee ballot and cast on a member chapter’s
letterhead by it’s President.

LAST LAUGH
WAYS TO CONFUSE SANTA CLAUS Instead of milk and cookies, leave him a salad, and a note explaining that you think he could stand to
lose a few pounds.
While he's in the house, go find his sleigh and write him a speeding ticket.
Leave him a note, explaining that you've gone away for the holidays. Ask if he would mind watering
your plants.
While he's in the house, replace all his reindeer with exact replicas. Then wait and see what happens
when he tries to get them to fly.
. Keep an angry bull in your living room. If you think a bull goes crazy when he sees a little red cape,
wait until he sees that big, red Santa suit!
SIGNS YOU’VE HAD TOO MUCH HOLIDAY CHEER
You strike a match and light your nose.
You take off your shoes and wade in the potato salad.
You hear a duck quacking and it's you.
You tell your best joke to the rubber plant.
You refill your glass from the fish bowl.
You hear someone say, "Call a priest!"
You start kissing the portraits on the wall.
You complain about the small bathroom after emerging from the closet.
You ask for another ice cube and put it in your pocket.
You tell everyone you have to go home... and the party's at your place.
You have to hold on to the floor to keep from sliding off.
You pick up a roll, and butter your watch.
You yawn at the biggest bore in the room... and realize you're in front of the hall mirror.
You take out your handkerchief and blow your ear.
You suggest everyone stand and sing the national budget.

head.
Q: What do snowmen eat for lunch ? A: Icebergers !
Q: What time is it when little white flakes fall past the classroom window? A: Snow and Tell.
Q: If the sun shines while it's snowing, what should you look for? A: Snowbows.
Q: If you live in an igloo made of snow, what's the worst thing about global warming? A: No privacy!
Q: What do you call ten Arctic hares hopping backwards through the snow together? A: A receding hare
line.
