Features include one of Europe’s largest lakes, Lake Vättern, the beautiful island of Visingsö and rolling countryside packed with goodies from history – castles, ruins, churches, legends and archeological sites. Gränna is also known for the red and white striped “Polkagrisen” candy that was twirled here for the first time in 1859. The candy makers display the production all year at several places in Gränna. Of course we have our own regional airport – Jönköping Airport – with both domestic and international connections, both scheduled and charter. A regular

route to Frankfurt opened in 2015 with eleven departures a week. For more than ten years we’ve had a 10-week long charter window between Düsseldorf

and Jönköping Airport each summer. A stopover enables us to reach a large part of Europe’s travelers.

Car rental firms are standing by at the airport and the closeness to Jönköping city center ensures connections by bus and train. Or why not just come in by foot with your hiking boots on? Dumme Mosse nature reserve is located

right next to the airport and offers a mythical trip in the vicinity of the airport. Adventure is always close at hand in Northern Småland, no matter how you

Kröken is a nineteenth-century farm in Emhult. The main house has a dining room that seats up to 24 people. In 1998, we installed our fine SPA center, with a real Finnish wood-fired sauna. We later added a wood-fired hot tub to the spa.

Our new guest house opened in the summer of 2013, featuring 4 duplex rooms, where each unit can accommodate 4–5 people. There is a bedroom with three single beds upstairs, while the lower floor has a bedroom with a double bed and a bathroom.

We offer cabins and houses in beautiful natural surroundings in Småland. The cabins have a kitchen or pantry equipped for self-catering, and a WC with shower. Guests at the Wisingsö Hotell and Conference Facility stay in a central location on the island, in fresh rooms in a picturesque environment. A minor climb towards the Apple Valley on the east side of Vättern creates a bike ride through an amazing landscape. The tour continues around a smaller lake, Landsjon, and after around 25 km of riding, we stop at Gårdsrosteriet, where we compose our own Espresso and enjoy fresh apple juice from the surrounding farms. On our way back to Jönköping we enjoy the speed when going slightly downhill. Back into the city, we indulge in afterbike combined with wine tasting. Barnfilmbyn Mariannelundnew tourist attraction opening 2017 - analougue and interactive museum

In 2017 we are opening a brand new tourist attraction in Sweden, for all those interested in film - children and adults. It's location is right in the middle of delightful Småland, tucked in among forests and lakes in Astrid Lindgren’s so lovingly depicted childhood environment.

Barnfilmbyn contains of three parts: the descriptive part, the educational part and the experiential part. In the descriptive part of the exhibition, you find out how world-famous films were created, based on Astrid Lindgren’s unforgettable stories about for example Pip-pi Longstocking, Ronia the Robber’s Daughter and Se-acrow Island. In the educational part, you can try your own hand at movie-making – filming, sound-tracking and editing. In the experiential part, you visit a number of selected filming locations in the region and get to

see with your own eyes how the cultural environments have been recreated in films about Emil i Lönneberga and the Bullerby Children.

The exhibition will contain both static and interactive elements. With the help of varying technologies such as green screen and augmented reality, you step into the world of creativity. At the different filming locations, you can experience how the filming was done and what kind of environments were used in the various films simply by using a QR-code and your own smartphone.

Welcome to Hultet – a cultural idyll in Småland!

The Hultet Village Museum, “Gammelbyn Hultet,” just north of Tranås, is the result of merchant Arvid Jonas’ (1905–1988) lifelong interest in his community and its history. He arranged to have about twenty old wooden houses moved to Hultet from the region around beautiful Lake Sommen and filled them with period items.

The museum contains the world´s largest collection of objects and photographs from the Andrée Expedition – which was led by the master eng-ineer Salomon August Andrée. In 1897, he planned to explore the Arctic with the help of a hydrogen ballon. The expedition was a failure and the members were found dead on White Island in 1930.

Here you can learn about several classic polar expe-ditions led by heroes such as Roald Amundsen, Sir Ernest Shackleton, Adolf Erik Nordenskiöld and Otto Nordenskjöld.

Habo Church is one of the most remarkable churches in Sweden. The entire interior of the church is filled with paintings illustrating Martin Luther’s catechism. Habo Church acquired its current appearance in 1723, but there have been churches on this site from the 1100s on.

There are some wooden sculptures from the Middle Ages but primarily a baptismal fount, from 1250.

Remaining in Habo even today there are still clear traces of the class system that the church in earlier times made use of: galleries for the wealthy and benches for the lower classes.

The activities at Hagårds Lagård are recommended for active and adventurous groups and families. Ha-gårds Lagård is located in a scenic area 30 kilometers northwest of Jönköping. Participants are welcome to stay for coffee, beverages and ice cream at our beautiful family farm, Hagårds Lagård.

There are (from July 2016) five different ziplines at Hagårds Lagård with a total length of app. 450 meters. The longest zipline is 150 meters and crosses an old millpond. The visitors need to wear comfortable and weather appropriate shoes and clothing. The high rope course is of the highest security, designed with continuous belay and zip line construction. Children taller than 140 centimeters are welcome to complete the course, but must be accompanied by an adult.

Paintball is available for adults and youth ages 15 -18 with parental permission. Other shooting activities are available for adults over 18.

Husqvarna Museum is beautifully situated at the wa-terfall of the Husqvarna river. Within a short distance from the museum you will also find Smedbyn, the village where the old weapon blacksmiths lived in the18th and 19th centuries, and Slottsvillan, former residence of the Husqvarna presidents.

Kleva Mine is by far the most beautiful visitor mine in Sweden. The history of Kleva Mine started at the end of the seventeenth century. First copper was extracted, then nickel, until 1920.

Since 1991, Kleva Mine has been a tourist attraction set up as a visitor mine, which is why the working environment has been arranged so as to be as authentic as possible. The mine is located in a beautiful Småland forest area. From the top of the mountain, visitors can enjoy a panorama view of the surrounding landscape.

No product has made Sweden and Jönköping so well known around the world as the safety match. Its histo-ry is a drama with many players and ingredients.

In 1848 Johan and Carl Lundström built a match factory on the shores of Lake Vättern. The Lundström brothers were children of their time. They traveled extensively in Europe and were impressed by the indu-stries they saw there. That’s what they wanted to do in their hometown of Jönköping!

Johan was an engineer and Carl was a businessman. They were both strong-willed and highly ambitious. Smoke from the steam engines and sulfur ovens soon rose from the factory chimneys. They had laid the

foundation to a major industry. Small sticks in colorful boxes would spread Jönköping’s name all over the world.

The Match Museum is housed in a wooden building from 1848 that was the first match factory in Jönkö-ping. Visitors see the machines and meet the people who built up the match industry and developed it into a global company, including matchstick worker Lena Törnqvist – a woman whose fate was caught up in the transition between the old and the new society. Lena suffered from phosphorus necrosis, an occupational disease that afflicts people who work with phosphorus.

Ramoa – Ramkvilla outdoor activity offers nature- based activities in an adventure village on the banks of the Klockesjön lake. Store Mosse is one of southern Sweden’s largest natio-nal parks and the largest raised bog south of Lapland. The National Park occupies close to 8,000 hectares. It includes a visitors’ center – “naturum” – which conta-ins an exhibit and information about nature. Naturum also serves as the reception for the Store Mosse youth hostel. Naturum is a water hole for nature lovers, and provides inspiration to visitors to get out and explore the National Park, on their own or as part of a guided group.

The park contains 40 km of hiking trails, of which 3 km are wheelchair-accessible. The National Park

is home to many species of animals an birds. Moose and nesting cranes, for example, are plentiful. Several bird-watching towers. The eagles feeding station during winter can be observed live or at the web cam monitor in naturum. Experience that unique wilderness feeling out on the great open expanses. Berry- and mushroom-picking are allowed. Free admittance to naturum and to the National Park.

1,200 years in one hour. A visit to Taberg Mine is a lesson in geology, cultural history, unique plants, bats and other animals. Visitors may borrow a mining helmet and a flashlight. Be sure to arrive in good time. It is pitch-black inside the mine. We tell the story of the mountain that was supposed to become a pit.

Beside the mine are a bat museum and the geology room. There is also a hiking trail from Gruvgården to the top. Not suitable for children under 5. There is an outdoor grill and outdoor dining area with a roof.

Vandalorum is a museum for regional, national and in-ternational contemporary art and design. Vandalorum, which opened its doors in 2011, was built according to an original design by world-renowned Italian architect Renzo Piano. Piano was inspired, partly by local building traditions, but primarily by the monumental red drying barn that once stood on the site.

Vandalorum has a total exhibition surface of 1100 square meters, distributed in three halls. Barn 1 houses Vandalorum’s and current art and design exhibits. In Barn 2, the Småland Art Archives mounts temporary exhibits and shows its collections in the so-called Studio Archives – a collection of about 1500 works of art associated with Småland. The Galleria houses art

and design exhibits and can also be used for conferences and other events.

The Syltan restaurant at Vandalorum is an attraction in itself. The restaurant serves meals prepared from the very best fresh ingredients. The Syltan also offers a large assortment of pastries that make a fine accompaniment to a cup of espresso.

Vandalorum’s design shop is full of good design at “Småland-type” prices (in other words, extremely reasonable!). Visitors to the design shop can find design and art books, original prints, ecological children’s toys, postcards, posters, souvenirs and design products by some of the foremost Nordic designers.
