SPNJ at the Montclair Labor Day Parade
The Northern NJ Local marched in the Montclair, NJ 4th of July
parade for the second year in a row. We were well received by
Montclair residents and the contingent was led by Socialist Party
gubernatorial candidate Maynor Marino and Lt. Governor Candidate
Stephanie Gussin. This is the second year the Northern NJ Local
marched and the first the comrades from the Monmouth/Ocean local
joined in. The event was followed by a "Socialist B-B-Q" at the
home of Andrea, Trevor & Greg Pason. A great day!
Socialist Skillshare The Party held our Summer 2013 Skill Share
this year on Sunday July 21st in Anderson Park in Montclair.
This was the first Socialist Skillshare in a few years and the
workshops included, prison letter writing, diy event planning, food
prep and more. Members also discussed planning a concert, setting
up a lo-fi radio station, the upcoming SPUSA national convention
and supporting the Moreno/Gussin slate for Governor.
Skillshares are a great opportunity for rank-n-file members to
share skill and discuss building alternatives to traditional
commercial and state programs.
Upcoming events (Friday) August 9th: Join the Northern NJ Local
at NJ Peace Action’s Nagasaki Day Peace Vigil. The vigil will be
held on the corner of Bloomfield Ave & Church St. in Montclair
and runs from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. Join us after at Manny’s Diner for
dinner, coffee and discussion of upcoming events. (Sunday) August
11th: Socialist Party of New Jersey State Convention. The 2013
Socialist Party of New Jersey
State Convention will be held from 10:30 am to 4:00 pm @ Rutgers
Center for Latino Arts and Culture 122 College

(Saturday) August 24th: Join the Socialist Party at the March on
Washington. This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the March on
Washington, and the struggle for civil rights, social and economic
justice continues. Info on the Socialist Party contingent will be

JOIN THE SOCIALIST PARTY AT THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE MARCH ON
WASHINGTON
Join the Socialist Party USA as we help celebrate the 50th
Anniversary of the March on Washington and continue the struggle
for social and economic justice. The Party will mark the
anniversary at actions across the US, including organizing a
contingent at the National Action to Realize the Dream on August
24th.
