SOCIAL EVENTS Soiree at Julie & Ray’s Place - Sat 16th June 2012

By Jan Fels This year we held our Soiree at Julie and Ray's home at Kelso, which was a great night and we thank them for such a lovely evening.

For those who did not attend you missed a great night. Ray decided to give Reg some competition and made a damper which he cooked in his pizza oven. It looked and tasted great but all members decided that both dampers were evenly matched.

Reg also cooked the corned beef in a large metal container over the open fire and the roast beef in a camp oven. Julie made the white sauce, gravy and all the vegetables, potatoes, carrots, onions and cabbage were cooked in the metal container. Thanks Reg for a lovely dinner.

Lastly we ended with desserts which were made by the girls. After dinner some of us sat around the fire while the others played pool. A truly lovely evening and we thank Julie and Ray. It was good to have Monica and John from Cairns and Wendy, David and Jim from the Tablelands join us. We appreciate you coming so far for the weekend. Through a communication "hiccup" our friends from the Proserpine Restorers Club did not attend this year but we hope they will join us next year.

ALL BRITISH DAY..JUNE 17TH 2012 By Jan Fels What a beautiful day we had for All British Day, the sun was shining and all the cars were shining along with all the people it was a magic day. We thank the Cathedral School and Jenny Ullman and the ladies in the canteen. The food was terrific and the Cathedral school grounds were a picture of perfection. It is such a joy to hold our All British Day at the School with its lovely setting. Our thanks also to 4TTT for the terrific music. Peter Dixon did a marvellous job not only buying and making up the raffle basket but also selling all the tickets with the help of Alan Collins. This year we had 28 cars on display which was great, must admit the Marque had about 34 cars so hopefully next year we can get more Jaguars for display. On the day we signed up three new members, we welcome them. Judy Liles has rejoined, Judy was a member in Peter Carlson days and owns the snazzy looking red E Type convertible that many people thought Reg had bought. Sadly that was not true and we welcome Judy back into the Club. The Jaguar Club donated the trophies and these were won by.... Best Car won by owner Roaul Cook for his 1977 Triumph Stag. Best Motorbike owner Geoff Hinspeter for his 1929 Ariel Model E. Best Display was won by the Vintage Stationary Engines. Congratulations to those people.

Each year Jim Lewis brings his XK140 and MK7 for display. Jim lives in Charters Towers and for him to get the cars here he brings one car down on the Thursday and leaves it at a friend's place then he catches the bus back to Charters Towers, collects the other car then drives that down on Friday.

All has to be reversed when the show is over, so we thank you Jim for showing your cars and going to so much trouble. When Jim lived in Richmond he did the same but had to catch the train back which was a seven

and half hour train trip. Our thanks to many other members who bring multiple cars for display, it takes a lot of effort and time and we thank you all for showing your cars. Each year we have trouble getting advertising space and this year we thank Sue who was able to get our notice printed in the Community Notice Board plus the "10 events for this weekend" segment, thanks Sue. A big thank you to all the Clubs that joined us, it was great to see so many of you and we hope you will join us again next year. Our thanks also to David Moore and his team from Tony Ireland Motors who displayed the latest Jaguars and Range Rovers. It was good to see so many people looking at your vehicles and hope you sold heaps. Lastly a big thank you to our Jaguar Club Members who helped set up and brought their cars along so everyone could enjoy them. See you next year.

STORIES ABOUT OUR MEMBERS by Jan Fels

Who was the fellow who decided to spray the innards of his window? He took out a few bolts so he could spray around and whoops the window slipped down and off its tracks.

It took Reg hours to get the window working and this fellow reckons he will never do that again as it also cost him $150.

We wish Julie and Ray all the best for their holiday, have a great time and Julie just watch those fellows in Italy they love blondes and bottoms!!!

Who are the couple who have already booked in to the Motel for Christmas Dinner? That is keen……..

What about Reg and his entrance to the Cathedral School, we know Reg you were thrilled to drive the E Type but did you have to toot the horn all the way in.

We hope Frank and Glenys had a good trip to Darwin for the V8’s; we missed you at the All British.

Wonder which couple walked away at the All British and left their chairs behind: by all accounts they did not miss them until later that night.

Who was the fellow who worked a 12 hour shift then flew from Mackay to Townsville to collect his car which has had part time restoration taking 8 months? After all that time hope he enjoys the car.

Which fellow collided with another car while driving around a roundabout? He says it was the other fellow but we do wonder. We hear its back on the road now having been fixed!!!!!

    WELCOME NEW MEMBERS

We extend a warm welcome to the following new members and look forward to their participation and enjoyment of the Club events etc

    THANK YOU

Thank you to members who attended and helped at the Sausage sizzle on Sunday 22nd

The morning started slow but got very busy later, which resulted in good sales.
