Greetings from the President

Hi Ladies,

Summer finally came and my ac went to pot. Now instead of

whining about the cold I am whining about the heat. I'm thinking

maybe I just like to whine. I hope you are out enjoying the summer.

We still have some nice classes this year. September 14 Vera is

teaching us a really cute Halloween project, October 10-12 we have

a three day seminar with Arlene Newman and November 16 we are

having a memory box workshop. Info and sign up sheets are on the

web site or you can contact Luana.

The auction this year is September 28. We will have a live auction

and the $25 and under table as well as lunch. Tickets will be $20

and it will be at the same church as last year. We are asking each

member to contribute items for the auction and for the $25 and

under table. Some suggestions are men's items, furniture, kids

things, seasonal items and flower pots. If you have hobbies other

than painting you could donate something from that. As always we

need everyone's help to make our auction a success. Money raised

from the auction helps to defray the expenses for the paint ins and a

portion goes to a charity.

The lunch and raffle tickets will be mailed to you in a few weeks.

The raffle items this year are an antique wash stand that Chery is

going to do with a mosaic top, an entry way table with an Arlene

Linton doily painted on it by me and a basket made by Sharma and

filled by Kelly McCord.

I hope to see you at the paint ins and auction.

I want to remind all NEDA members we will be continuing our

Munson Hospital, Community Service, Memory Box Program

in 2019. This project is important to the families who have lost

a new born baby and it gives them a special hand painted

Memory Box to hold all their precious memories to be

treasured, by that family, for years to come.

Not sure if you all are aware that if it were not for our hand

painted memory boxes these families would be given a plain

wooden box shaped like a coffin to take home. This is terrible

and why Munson is so appreciative for as many memory boxes

we can provide them.

So I am asking each member to paint at least 3 to 4 boxes or

more would be fantastic. Many people ask what design should

be on these boxes, my suggestions are, lambs, angels, flowers,

teddy bears, or any design that is sweet, not aggressive in

nature and a design you would give your infant

grandchildren. Each box you take contains a slip of paper for

you to fill out and will stay in the finished box. We have been

asked to not include anything other than the slip of paper in the

box. We do not want to take a chance of offending the

recipient.

Memory boxes will be at all NEDA Painting Classes for you to

take and I will also have a signup sheet which will include an

area for your name and how many you take home and phone

number. You can also get memory boxes by emailing me

[email protected] with how many boxes and how I can get the

boxes to you. I look forward to as many painted memory boxes

that you can paint this year. Just think, if 10 people painted 4

boxes we could provide 40 memory boxes to Munson

Hospital's Maternity Unit. Wouldn't it be great if we could

provide more. I just know we can do this.
