Mount Wolf kindergarten and first grade students enjoyed a time of friendship and thanksgiving at their annual celebra-tion. This year the children read Thanksgiving stories, sang songs, danced, created headdresses, and played games. In keeping with Mt. Wolf tradition, our honored guest Linda Himes kicked off our feast by singing "My Country 'Tis of Thee." Thanks to the generous families of our school the kids truly had a feast! The surplus in donations will be donated to the Northeastern Food Pantry. What a time to be thankful!

Mrs. Walker’s 7th grade students at the middle school read the short story “The War of the Wall” by author Toni Cade Bambara. To prepare the students, Mrs. Walker assigned the students a Google Classroom assignment in which they watched a news clip about “the wall of respect” movement in the 1960’s lead by a group of African American art-ists. These artists would come together to paint murals as symbols of their respect for different groups. These “walls of respect” soon started to pop up all over the country and even small towns in the south such as the one in which the story “The War of the Wall” takes place. As an extension, Mrs. Walker’s 7th graders wrote dedications to a person who they respected a great deal and hung them on the “Yellow Team’s Wall of Respect” as a dedication.

Hello FOR Clubs! Only a few days away from Thanksgiving! A time to be thankful and give thanks, so we feel like the timing is more than appropriate to share with you Rachel's Closet & Pantry by Northeastern Middle School - FOR Club. This project has gone far beyond what we could have ever imagined, but we truly believe it's something a lot of schools could do and so many students would benefit from.

To top it all off, both Rachel's Closet and Pantry are ran and maintained by the students, who find joy and pur-pose in doing so. The adult leaders at NMS were kind enough to create a PowerPoint presentation to give you detailed guidelines on how they make this work! Please take a moment and look through it...you can view it HERE. Maybe your school or club is already doing something similar? If so, please share it with us!! And THANK YOU Northeastern Middle School for creating such a spectacular concept!

These students decided to transform an old empty classroom into a 'retail/grocery store'. Students, facility and community members donate clothing, shoes, school supplies, personal hygiene items and gym uniforms to Ra-chel's Closet. Students that are in need can then go 'shopping', typically by themselves to insure confidentiality. Not only do these students walk away with new clothes or gear, they walk away with smiles, which is what it's all about. Rachel's Pantry is very similar to any food pantry, where non-perishable food items are accepted and students can take home some meals, if they need to do so. They decided that plastic, easy to prepare items would work best, as canned goods can be heavy and hard to carry for students.

GUIDANCE GOES DIGITAL The NMS counselors are using technology to offer a new service to students. The counselors have created an online Google Help Center for students to increase help-seeking behavior, confiden-tiality, and ease of access to counseling services. Students may use the Help Center to request to see their counselor and access guidance related announcements/resources. The Help Center is confiden-tial. Students may also use the Help Center to fill out a Bully Card, NEAT Card, or Note to Ra-chel on their Chromebook, or on their smart phone with the Google Classroom App. In addition, QR codes, very similar to bar codes, have also been placed in student restrooms by the cafe for students to request to see the counselor. Students can use their smart phone to scan the QR code and will be linked to a request to see the counselor. Counselors are visiting all classrooms to instruct students on how to use the Help Center and to review the various student resources at NMS.
