The Boundaries of the Manor ofIngleton in the West Riding of the Countyof York rid on Friday the twentieth day ofSeptember one thousand seven hundred fiftyand four pursuant to Notices before publishedin the several Parish Churches within andnext adjoining to the said Manor byEdward Parker Esquire Lord thereof accompaniedby the several persons whose Names arehereto subscribed.

Beginning where Thornton River called Doe runs into and meetsIngleton River called Greet so down said River unto Parks on an oldWatercourse there to the River again so down said River and thenwestward by Guyholme to Greeta Gill and up said Greeta Gill toSharps House and through part of it and on Best Beck by JohnHowson's of Gill on the East Side of Ravens Close to the RiverWenning and so up said River to Mill Air and on the south side of theFence in said Mill Air to the River again and up the same to Eska Beckand Eska Lane by the backside of Eska House to the Boundary stoneon Beckwith down Beckwith Sike to the River Wenning so up saidRiver to Meer Gill and up same to the Common called Bentham Moorto the Graystone on Whitestone Green on the East Side of Threap Haw

Descents and Alienationsfound by the Jury asfolloweth.

Imp.1 We find by Alienation from Anthony Armitstead unto RobertClarke his Son in Law and Jennet Clarke his Daughter of all his rightand title of one Fire house and one Stable and one Garden adjoining toit the same being in Ingleton as by the said Deed may more at largeappear and of the yearly rent of two pence.

Item 2 We find an Alienation by Deed from Alice Lamb unto ThomasWalker the younger of Moregarth of all her right and title of one Parcelof Arable and Meadow ground commonly called Blacke Buts being byestimation half an Acre be the same more or less. Likewise parcel ofArable and Meadow ground lying on the said Blayke Buts being byestimation one Rood be the same more or less both the said Parcels ofground adjoining to the said Thomas Walker and being in theTownfield of Ingleton as by the said Deed may more at large appearand the yearly rent of five pence.

Item 3 We find an Alienation by Surrender from Edward Craven andEllen his Wife unto Thomas Walker of Moregarth the elder andLeonard Walker his Son of all their right and title to one parcel ofArable and Meadow ground called Fishber head Land Also one Closeof Meadow ground called Fishbot Close. Also one parcel of Groundcalled Moorelands Land. Also one little dale or parcel of Ground beingMeadow Ground lying overthwarth the ends of Moorelands landsalong by Fishpot Close end and in the Townfield of Ingleton as by thesaid Surrender doth more or less at large appear and of the yearly rentof nine pence.

Item 4 We find Alienation by Surrender from Edward Craven andEllen his Wife unto Thomas Walker the younger ofMoregarth of all their right and title of one parcel of Arableand Meadow ground called Millalands Land also one parcelof Arable and meadow ground called Fishpot Land also onelittle Close of Meadow ground called Winewarth close Alsofive swathes or shafts lying on short Thornber also oneParrock called the over Parrock also one little nook of oneOrchard adjoining to the parrock of Thomas Walker theelder all within the Townfield of Ingleton and further wefind that it is agreed by and betwixt the said Edward Cravenand Thomas Walker the elder and Thomas the younger thatthe said Thomas Walkers and their heirs and assigns shallhave and make their common usual way through the abovementioned little nook of the Orchard up unto Fishber endand so along to Fishber ancient way and the said ThomasWalkers to make all the fence betwixt the moor yet andFishber end of their own proper cost charges as by the saidSurrender doth more at large appear and being of the yearlyrent of three pence farthing.

Item 5 We find an Alienation by Surrender by way of exchangefrom Thomas Walker the elder and Thomas Walker theyounger unto Edward Craven of all their right and title offour swathes or shafts lying on Long Thornber also one daleof Meadow ground called the acre end also one little dale ofmeadow ground lying in a place called Pinderring also fourSwathes or Shafts being on the north side of Long Thornberand also we find an Alienation by the said Surrender fromThomas Walker the elder and Thomas Walker the youngerunto Edward Craven of all their right and title of thatancient way which leads off the Moor into the Parrock ofThomas Walker the elder and also of that way which leadsfrom their Dwelling house and barn into the lower part ofthe field and the said Thomas Walker the elder and ThomasWalker younger is to make a way and hinge of Peat at theirown Barn end to run off the moor into their own Parrockand not to use any other way henceforth as by the saidSurrender doth more at large appear and the yearly rent ofone farthing.

Item 6 We find an Alienation by Surrender from John Rowth andElizabeth his Wife and Alice Seward unto Margaret Knipeof all their right and title of one Fire house and one littlegarden lying at the Backside of the house and being inIngleton as by the said Surrender doth more at large appear

Item 7 We find an Alienation by Surrender from WilliamCraven unto Robert Balderston of all his right and title ofTwo parcels of Arable and Meadow ground lying on a placecalled Orabada the one adjoining to the ground of RobertBalderston and the other adjoining to the ground of JohnCockin both parcels by estimation one Rood be they moreor less . Also one hempland adjoining to the ground ofThomas Clarke also one close of meadow ground called theRishdale and adjoining to the ground of Henry Bouch Esqr

being by estimation one Rood be the same more or less asby the said Surrender doth more at large appear and theyearly rent of two pence farthing

8 We find an Alienation by Deed from Thomas Clarkeand Jane Clarke his Mother unto Thomas Redmaine of oneDwelling house one Barn one Outhouse or Stable twogardens one Orchard or grassgarth one parcel of groundwhether it be arable or meadow adjoining the saidgrassgarth or orchard and commonly called the Croft Landand being by estimation Three Roods be the same more orless as by the said Deed doth more at large appear being ofthe yearly rent of three shillings sixpence.

9 We find an Alienation by Deed from John RidmanWollin Webster unto Richard Balderstone of all his Rightand Title of one Close called Rutfeels close being byestimation Three Acres be the same more or less Also oneparcel of arable and meadow ground called the Black Buttsbeing by estimation half an Acre be the same more or lessAlso one parcel called the Morts well close adjoining to theabovesaid Close And being of the yearly rent of oneshilling.

10 We find a Descent from Agnes Proctor to ElizabethWillfore of all her right and title of Tennant right within theManor or Lordship of Ingleton being of the yearly rent ofhalfpenny.

Imps We find a descent by Will from Christopher Waller Unto hisSon Myles Waller of all his right and title of all those Closes andParcels of Arable and Meadow ground Commonly called GuyonIngs and Butts Close with one house standing thereon being byestimation Two acres and a half be the same more or less as thesaid Will may more at large appear and of the yearly rent of twoshillings farthing.

It.2 We find a descent by Will from Christopher Waller Unto histwo Sons John Waller and Joseph Waller of all his right and title of allthose Sleights Closes lying and being on the North side of a doubleditch adjoining to Colecots Pasture being by estimation five acres.Also Three Cattle gates or Beast grasses in Colecotes Close as the saidWill may more at large appear and of the yearly rent of ten pence old

It.3 We find a descent by Will from Christopher Waller UntoRebecca Waller his daughter of all his right and title of five Roods inBotten be the same more or less Also one Close called Botten ing andone dale or parcel of ground adjoining at the north end of the same inthe Town field being by Estimation half an Acre of Meadow ground asthe said Will may more at large appear and of the yearly rent of oneshilling and eleven pence.

It.4 We find a descent by Will from Christopher Waller Unto hisSon Thomas Waller of all his right and title of all these Slights Closesbeing on the South side of a double ditch being by estimation six acresof arable and meadow ground and also six Roods of arable andmeadow ground lying in Yalesber bank and also one acre of arable andmeadow ground lying on the north Side of Yalesber bank as the saidwill may more at large appear and of the yearly rent of three Shillingseleven pence.

It.5 We find an Alienation by Surrender from Mary Webster UntoRobert Carker of all her right and title of one Parcel of Arable andMeadow ground lying betwixt the ground of Alice Lambe on the oneside and Ann Stoule on the other side commonly called the four beckLand being by Estimation Ten fall be it more or less as the saidSurrender may more at Large appear and of the yearly rent of onehalfpenny.

It.6 We find an Alienation by Surrender from Thomas Richardsonunto Robert Parker and his Heirs of one parcel of Meadow groundcalled Thackmire head containing one fall or thereabouts and of theyearly rent of one farthing.

It.7 We find an Alienation by Surrender from William Witton untoAgnes Walker and her heirs or Assigns of all his right and title of oneparcel of ground lying at the West end of the hellbrow which parcelwas lately inclosed and adjoining to the upper end of Mr. Bouch parkbeing by estimation a rood be it more or less and of the yearly rent ofone halfpenny.

It.8 We find an Alienation by Surrender from Mary Wilkinson untoEdward Sanders and his Heirs and Assigns of all her right and title ofone Close of Arable and Meadow Ground and commonly calledRoucke Croft being by estimation Three Roods be it more or less withall Gardens and House steads as the said Surrender will more at largeappear and of the yearly rent of three shillings three pence half penny.

It.9 We find an Alienation by a Mortgage Deed from Gilbert Barberunto Edward Braithwaite of all his right and title of one Messuage oneDwelling house one Stable one Garden on the Backside of the saidHouse all lying and being on the seed hill in Ingleton as by the saidDeed doth more at large appear and of the yearly rent of one shillingeleven pence half penny

It. 10 We find an Alienation by Deed from James Speight andElizabeth his Wife William Lloyd and Maria his Wife and JennetClarke Widow of all their right and title of one parcel of ground calledfell end close house and parrock and Garden being by estimation fiveacres and a half Unto Lawrence Whittam of Fell end and to his heirsand assigns for ever And that they the said Elizabeth and Maria wassolely examined by Steward and Jury And did acknowledge andconfess that it was their own free will without compelling by theirhusbands or any other persons as by the said Deed may more at largeappear and of the yearly rent of two shillings four pence.

It. 11 We find an Alientation by Deed from Robert Clarke and JennetClark his Wife of all their right and title of one firehouse one brewhouse one Garden unto Leonard Clarke their brother and to his heirsand assigns for ever as by the said Deed may more at large appearbeing of the yearly rent of two pence

It. 12 We find an Alienation by Surrender from John Knowles ofTwisleton unto Peter Procter and Christopher Jackson side new (sic)within Ingleton and to their Heirs for the use of the Poor of Ingletonaforesaid and for none other use All his right and title of one littleMansion house one garden standing in the Starr within the Manor ofIngleton and of the yearly rent of four pence

It. 13 We find an Alienation by Deed from Thomas Backhouse untoMiles Waller of all his right and title of two Acres of Arable andMeadow Ground be the same more or less commonly called Guyoning Also one half acre of arable and Meadow Ground in a place calledBolton as by the said Deed may more at large appear and of the yearlyrent of two shillings four pence

Imp We find an Alientation by Deed from Alice Lamb Widow UntoRobert Wilkinson Woollen Webster And to his heirs and assigns forever of all those her two parcels of arable and meadow ground withwith (sic) the Appurtenances commonly called Beckcrooks and GoulSyke by estimation three Roods be they more or less and adjoining tothe grounds of Thomas Redmayne as by the said Deed may more atlarge appear being of the yearly rent of one shilling

We find an Alientation by Surrender from James Sidgwick UntoWilliam Reminton of Bentham Linen Webster and to his heirs andAssigns for ever of all his right and title of one old Malt Kiln or KilnStead and adjoining to the garden of Jane Court with one stoop fattbelonging to the said Kiln as by the said surrender may more at largeappear being of the yearly rent of six pence.
