We are teaching safe boating through education, passing on our experience, training, and knowledge of the “do’s and don’ts” of boating. But we are also enjoying the fellowship of others who share the values of, and interest in, the same things. So by working together and getting together at events, and enjoying ourselves, we make others want to join us. So let’s steer the course, teaching as many stu- dents as we can get, so we can share our message to attract new members and have fun. This will make them want to join in and become part of the organiza- tion also. I hope many of you will join us at the District AGM on June 3 to get all the latest CPS news from David Peebles, as to what’s new from National. I would also encourage you to join us at our annual District Rendezvous on June 9, 10, and 11, 2017. Come and camp for the weekend, or join us just for the day on Saturday (see page 6). As usual we will have a potluck on Friday night. On Saturday we will have a breakfast and various games in the afternoon. For Saturday evening we are planning a good meal. I’m not sure what the menu will be, it’s still a work in progress, but will include potluck salads and desserts. On Sunday morning there will be the traditional pancake breakfast cooked by members of the District Bridge. More details of the Rendezvous will be posted soon on the VIND website hp://vind.ca/. VIND Rendezvous—2017

Having fun at the 2016

Rendezvous—a great way

to get to know members

from other squadrons

Have Safe and Happy Boating

this Summer

The rendezvous will be June 9th to 11th, at the Qualicum First Nation Campground, on the estuary of the Big Qualicum River. All sites are on the beach side of the access road, so everyone can go to sleep listening to the waves on the beach. It will be close to being anchored off shore, without having to keep an anchor watch or getting your feet wet!

Register by contacting Ion Barnes at [email protected] . Please do not try to reserve with the campground. If you wish to arrive early or stay later - once again contact Ion.

Please note that Ion needs confirmation, and a deposit for the trailer site. He also needs to know whether you will be attending Saturday dinner ( Salmon). Members are asked to bring a potluck side dishe or dessert. More information will follow very soon on the VIND website http://vind.ca/

The site fee is $30/day and dinner is $ 18 per ticket. Questions? contact Ion Barnes

All members, family and friends are welcome— do join us!
