Minutes of the Open Sessions of the North Carolina Medical Board Meeting September 15, 1999.

The September 1999 meeting of the North Carolina Medical Board was held by telephoneconference call. The meeting was called to order at 11:00a.m. , Wednesday, September 15, 1999,by Mr. Paul Saperstein, President. Board members in attendance were: Wayne W. VonSeggen,PA-C, Vice President; Elizabeth P. Kanof, MD, Secretary/Treasurer; Kenneth H. Chambers, MD;John T. Dees, MD; John W. Foust, MD; Stephen M. Herring, MD; Walter J. Pories, MD; Charles E.Trado, MD; Ms. Martha K. Walston; and Ms. Felicia A. Washington Mauney. Absent: Hector H.Henry, II, MD.

Staff members present were: Mr. Andrew W. Watry, Executive Director; Ms. Helen DianeMeelheim, Assistant Executive Director; Mr. William H. Breeze, Jr. , Attorney; Mr. R. PRESIDENTIAL REMARKSMr. Saperstein summarized that after reviewing available information regarding HurricaneFloyd on September 14, he reluctantly decided to cancel the regularly scheduled SeptemberBoard Meeting so as not to cause unnecessary risk to licensees, others who had beeninvited to the Board meeting and to the Board staff and Board Members. Thus, the board isconducting this teleconference to dispose of urgent and pressing Board business.

A motion passed to close the session to investigate, examine, or determine the character andother qualifications of applicants for professional licenses or certificates while meeting withrespect to individual applicants for such licenses or certificates.

The Board reviewed one licensure application. A written report was presented for theBoard's review. The Board adopted the committee's recommendation to approve thewritten report. The specifics of this report are not included as these actions are notpublic information.

A motion passed to return to open session.
