"Dear Heavenly Father,"

I begin my every prayer,

But the man I see

While on bended knee

Is always my earthly dad.

He is the image

Of the Father divine

Reflecting the nature of God,

For his love and care

And the faith he shared

Pointed me to my Father above.

May Associational WMU Meeting The North Grand River WMU met May 17th at the association office. A group of 10 ladies took the bulk of the program to Sunnyview Nursing Home where we were able to share the word, prayer and missionary news with long time WMU ladies and other interested Christian women. Diann Barnes was able to attend and pro-vided us with piano accompaniment so that we could lead a song session of old hymns. Virginia Crumpacker gave the devotional. At the close of the program we were able to pray individually with each person attend-ing.

The meeting reconvened at the mission center where we shared other news. A prayer request was for Greg Brumett, returning IMB missionary, who will live in Kansas City, to find a job. Also the Flores, IMB missionaries to Lesotho were requesting help to buy food for the Lesotho people, who are under a severe food shortage. Money can be donated through the Baptist Global Relief. Shelly Sims reported on the new directive sent by President Obama to the schools concerning use of restrooms and dressing rooms by transgender students. It is time to not be the silent majority and get involved in repealing this direc-tive. We Christians need to push back. Shelly Sims will be in Haiti June 14 to June 28 and requested prayer for the trip. The National WMU Missions Celebration will be in Saint Louis June 12-13. It will be in conjunction with the National SBC Convention. A carry in luncheon was shared by all. The next meeting will be Tuesday, June 21 at the mission center at 10:30 am. A special guest speaker, Missionary Maerissa Knapp will share about her work in Africa. Verse: Romans 13:1- “Everyone must submit himself to the governing authority, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.”

From My Heart to YoursFrom My Heart to YoursFrom My Heart to YoursFrom My Heart to Yours

“Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the heavens. And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby you are sealed unto the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger and insult and slander be put away from you, along with all wickedness: And be kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake has forgiven you.” Ephesians 4:29-32

These are troubling times. Our society is becoming less and less respectful and friendly to those of us who love Jesus and God’s Word. The enemy has more and more liberty and en-couragement to come against whose who are faithfully serving the Lord and whose who are actively sharing the Gospel. I do not believe it is going to get any better as far as our culture

is concerned. I do not believe it will get any easier for God’s people to serve Him, in the days ahead. Therefore, we need to be as unified as we can be. We must mutually encourage, edify and support one another. The world must see that we are different in the way we treat each other and work together.

The above Scripture basically tells us that we need to...Pray for each other not prey on each other—Be Compassionate with each other not cruel to each other—Be Servants to each other not be selfishly demanding to be served—Be Forgiv-ers of each other not Faultfinders with each other.

This summer let’s be involved where our Lord leads us, and let’s encourage each other in spite of what the spiritual ene-mies throw at us. Let’s not grow weary in well doing. Let’s remember that our Lord loves us and empowers.

Keep us in your prayers.

For His Glory-

E.J. Barnes

God’s vision for this summer is packed full of opportunities to serve Him. He has given us 4 summer missionaries, Trey Shaw, Melissa Chisenwa, Gracie Cabral, and Maggie Schmidt. He’s lined out the mission trip to Canada WhiteDog Indian Reserve, starting this Saturday 21st through 5/28, the “4 St. Louis” college mission project with Southern Baptist Convention, June 8-13, the Lenox Rodeo Mission to the cowboy culture, and a

college Discipleship training week for campus students to train them to share Jesus on their campuses through Glorieta College Week, Aug 6-12. Pray for Summer Missionaries as they sacrificially serve Him this summer. Pray for these evangelistic/missional/training opportunities that God will move on the hearts of those students who God is calling to be involved in these experiences. And Pray most of all that God will create those moments through out the summer when His children will be sensitive and obedient to sharing Jesus with a Phillip’s Ethiopian heart.

Several months ago I mentioned a free cell phone application tool written by Dr. Brandon Parks, pastor FBC Raytown, that is very effective to not only become a deeper/stronger disciple but when used gives you a way to systematically teach someone else to become a disciple. i.e. “Make a Disciple”, Matt 28:19-20. This cur-riculum can now be obtained through our bookstore as a training course. If you’re interested in using an effec-tive tool to make disciples ask Debbie to order you the workbook “LifeCoach Discipleship”. The following is an excerpt.

How Do I Study the Bible Part I: “Pronounce It!” Take a verse of scripture and each time you read it, stress a different word in the verse, emphasizing one word at a time. Example:

Psalm 23:1 says: “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.”

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.

With each of the emphasis, STOP and make a note about what insight that word gives to you. Here’s what each word spoke to Brandon:

“THE” tells me there is only one God, He’s not just “a god”—He is the one and only true God. “LORD” re-minds me that I have submitted myself to His Lordship. He is the boss and the owner of my life, and I can trust Him with everything. “IS” is the present tense verb. The God I see is not the God of the past, He is the God of my present, and I know He will take care of my future. What he is offering in this verse is available to me today. “MY” tells me He’s not just offering this promise to the spiritually ELITE; He is my very own per-sonal shepherd. A “SHEPHERD” cares for the needs of his sheep, just like I need God’s protection from dan-ger, His provision for my needs, and His Spirit to convict me when I wander astray. “I” shows that with the knowledge that the Lord is my shepherd, that benefits me directly. “SHALL NOT” is a pretty emphatic state-ment. There isn’t any room for question or doubt. This is based on a certainty. With God, I will not have a sin-gle “WANT”. In other words, when God is my shepherd, I can rest in His presence. I can be content. Every-thing that I need for life, God promises to supply. Do you see how easy this is? You don’t need a seminary degree or any special tools to do this.

Above all this summer, pursue Jesus with a focused intentional heart.

HE is Worthy to Receive the Rewards of His Sacrifice— Souls

Edinburg- Our Church has been busy getting ready for our weekend VBS, “Submerged”. We

are planning a Friday night (6-8 PM) meet and greet with a hot dog cook out and water games,

a Saturday all day (9-3) submerged in the word with Missions, Bible Study, crafts, music and

recreation. Sunday evening (6-8 pm) will end our weekend with promotion of VBS, a program,

and a singing group. The dates are July 22-24. Pray for a good turn out to reach the children

in our area.

The Pastor and a few church members spent an afternoon passing out breads and muffins to

the people in our area along with a letter of invitation to come to church. They made about 50 stops in one rainy

afternoon.

God is working with the folks at our church to reach those who do not know Jesus. We are planning an Empty

Table Ceremony for the Sunday before Memorial Day in memory of the Veterans and loved ones that have gone

on before us. I think this will be a great way to remember our loved ones and those who gave their lives for our

freedom.

Remember to honor your mother and father, as this month and next are the months for Mother’s and Father’s Day.

They are so precious and many times we forget the smallest details that they do for us.

June 5th will be our fabulous Fish Fry (6 pm). The men spend the afternoon cooking fish and fries to feed us all,

followed by a wonderful time of fellowship. Of course they offer chicken for those non fish lovers.

We have planned the yearly calendar and have several things coming up to encourage people into the fellowship

and family of church. If you’re not attending church come and join us at Edinburg Baptist Church. We are located

5 miles west of Trenton, and love to have you visit. Sunday School is at 10 am and Church at 11 am on Sundays.

Sunday night is 6 pm and Wednesday Night Bible Study at 7 pm. Our Pastor is Ron McPherson.

Trenton FBC– Now that summer is upon us and school is out, we will have different opportunities to witness for

our Savior.

First Baptist will have two mission trip teams going out. One to Canada on June 24-July 3rd and one to Nicaragua

on July 9th-16th.

We will be having a block party at the parsonage on July 2nd. VBS will be July 10th-14th.

We wish our Minister of Music Lindsay Jenkerson and her husband Dustin the very best and God’s blessings on

them as their family moves to Columbia, Missouri. Our church was so blessed by Lindsay's music leadership.

Union- We will be having a youth VBS “Submerged” on June 17-18.
