A luxury stately home in Somerset available for exclusive hire, set within a 1,500 acre estate. Owned by the Montgomery family, world famous for their Cheddar cheese, the house dates back more than 700 years and has been renovated to a five star standard.

The unique character of this glorious English mansion is its emphasis on comfort and fun. As well as beautifully appointed rooms, not everyone has quirky and adventurous activities such as ‘rooftop’ golf, a basement disco, a fully equipped casino and an airstrip. We can also offer clay shooting, falconry, pedalos on the lake, fishing, tennis, and endless other activities. Whatever you want!

We are also close to the A303, an hour from Bristol or Bath and just 1 hour 40 mins direct train from central London. North Cadbury Court is a popular getaway for London-based businesses or international teams coming together.

Our breathtaking rural setting includes Cadbury Hill Fort (the legendary home of King Arthur’s Camelot).

When you hire North Cadbury Court the whole house, estate and all facilities are exclusively yours. Unlike most venues, here there are no hidden charges, no corkage and no restrictions on schedules.

Our in-house event managers will work with you to arrange everything you need – using our recommended catering, teambuilding and décor suppliers, or you may wish to discuss using some of your own. We can also help arrange house staff, croupiers, DJs, clay shooting, fitness or teambuilding instructors.

North Cadbury Court is a wonderful canvas upon which you can create your perfect event. You can opt for fully bespoke, or you can select one of our packages if you prefer.

HISTORY, FAMILY AND SOME VERY SPECIAL CHEESENorth Cadbury Court is a place where you feel immersed in British history, from the moment you approach along its tree lined drive. It

dates back 700 years to 1300 – when it was a medieval hall. You can still see magnificent original beams in several rooms today.

In the 1580s Sir Francis Hastings built the large Elizabethan mansion you now see, with the ballroom and stunning Georgian style south

façade added in the 1760s. In the interim one owner was unfortunately imprisoned by Oliver Cromwell (although thankfully forgiven a

little later by King Charles II!).

In 1910 the house and estate were purchased by Sir Archibald Langman, a Londoner who yearned for rural pursuits. Archibald had

recently returned from the Boer War where he and friend Arthur Conan Doyle took the amazing photographs you see in the house today

(copies of which Queen Victoria hung at Windsor Castle).

Archibald and young wife Eleanor became active on the farm, and started making the cheddar cheese for which the estate is now world

famous.

During World War II a London nursery was evacuated to the house, and then a large part of the house was lent to the YMCA to train

under-privileged city boys in skills for farming, until the mid-1960s.

The house is now owned by the Montgomery family, grandchildren of Archibald and Eleanor, and forms part of their farmed estate. The

lovely house is as iconic as the hill they farm, Cadbury Castle, visible from the windows, believed to be the site of King Arthur’s Camelot.

Award-winning Montgomery cheese is still produced on the estate, and guests at the house can take tours of the cheesemaking, and

sample it with local Somerset ciders.
