Exports (SCOPE)
State funded trade and export initiative funded by the South Carolina Department of Commerce
Overview/Purpose
• Purpose is to increase the number of new-to-export small businesses • And to raise value of exports for those small businesses already trading
Trade Services: Export Incentive Program
• Comply with SBA’s small business size standards.
• Operate profitably been in business for at least two-years.
• Headquartered in S.C. or manufacturing in S.C with at least 51% USA content
and 25% S.C. content.
• Currently have an export/market-ready product.
• Be in Good Standing with S.C. Department of Revenue and the Internal
Revenue Services and be able to certify eligibility for federal grants by signing a Debarment Certification.
• Agree to provide information on export sales data resulting from the funding
Export Incentive Program: Requirements
Package 1: Trade Missions
- Participate in a South Carolina led trade missions. (cost of B2B meetings covered and travel stipend)
Package 2: Trade Shows
- Participate in either an international trade show that best fits their industry or take part in co-exhibiting with South Carolina booth at the Paris Air Show or Outdoor Retailer. (booth space and travel stipend)
Package 3: U.S. Commercial Service
- Customized one-on-one meetings with distributors, partners, agents. (cost of B2B meetings covered and travel stipend)
Add-ons:
- Translation of marketing materials - Website translation and SEO upgrades- Participation in S.C. District Export Council’s general export seminars or workshops- Participation in the South Carolina Export Leadership classes.
Export Incentive Program: Activities Covered
• Counseled 632 + companies• Trained 594 + companies on such topics as export
financing, web marketing, logistics, export documentation, product classification, the basics of exporting and export compliance.
• Funded 188 small to medium sized companies under the Export Incentive Program
• 60 + different international markets
• Reported $40M + in export sales
