    college/University eachers.Now ,as per the UGC Regulation,2010which has beenptrblished n the Gazette f India on 18.9.2010 has the guidelines f the teachingdaysand the workload Thus, in view of the UGC Regulation,20lOhe revision ol the GRdated6.6.2002,6.7.2002 nd 8.4.2003was underconsideration.Resolution:The stategovernment s pleasedo revise the guidelines for teachingdaysand workloacl as follows:1) There shall be 90 teaching days (15 weeks) per semester in everyuniversity/constituent colleges/Affiliatedcolleges ncluding Governmentcolleges,grantin aid collegesancl self financedcolleges.This is cquivalent o 180 days during anacademic earasper UGC norms.This doesnot includedays or admission, xarninationand non instructional days fbr co-curricular, sports, college days.     2. The odd semester hall be from Julv to Decemberwhile the even semester hall befrom January o June.

    3. The workload in full employmentshould not be less than 40 hours a week fbr eachsemester n an academicyear. It should be necessary or a teacher o be available fbr atleastsix and a half (6 l/2 ) hoursdaily in the University/Collcgc.Ncccssary mendmcntsin the relevant ordinance/statuteare to be made by the respective universitv inconformity with the provisions of this resolution with an immediate effect. l-hcbifurcation of 40 hours for the Undergraduatecolleges and Universities shall be asfollows.

    7. The maximumnumberof students erdivisionshallbe r l0 to 130.8. Any decreasen the workloadshouldbe communicatedo the Commissioner f HigherEducation. Such teachershowever will not be declaredsurplus till the first cycle ofChoice Based Credit System gets over. They may be instructed o teach Alliecl/Interdisciplinary subjects in their own institutes/ sister institutes as well as in theinstitutes of the nearby region. They may be assignedsupplementarywork such asContentwriting, Translation,Preparationof Questionbank etc. During this time, at theendof everyAcademicyear he statusof teachers is-d-visworkloadwill be reviewedbythe CommissionerHigher Educationand recommendationsnd suggestions ill be madeto the Educationdepartment.9. The teachingwork for variouscourses o be offered under Elective and Foundationcorlrses s to be carried out by the teachersof Core subjects n the discipline of Arts,Commerce, Science, Education and Law. The training and capacity buildingworkshops or the teachers hallbe arranged eriodically.l0' The time spentby a teacher or activitiessuch asNCC, NSS,Saptdhara ctivitiesandactivities pertaining to KCG initiatives shall be consideredas a part of his/herworkload keeping n mind maximum of 2 hours per week during a 15 week semester.Besides t will be obligatory or teachers f Universities,GovernmentColleges,Grant-in-Aid colleges to perform functions and assignments given to them by thcCommissionerate f HigherEducation.Governmentof Gujarat rom time to timeI l.The stateUniversities will make necessaryamendmentsn the statucs/Ordinanccnconformity with the provisionsof this GR with immediateeffect.
