This is an exciting time at Norman Parks and Recreation! We currently offer 68 parks, 5 recreation centers and the Westwood Park facilities which include an 18 hole championship golf course, new family aquatic center and an indoor/outdoor tennis complex. There are also many miles of walkways and bike paths to enjoy throughout the City.
The Norman Parks and Recreation Department hosts a number of community events and activities for the whole family. The Daddy Daughter Dance is the largest of its kind in the State. There are many different youth and adult sports activities to choose from, along with a number of concerts and other live entertainment throughout the spring, summer and fall. The parks offer playgrounds for all ages, fitness equipment, walking/ jogging trails and hiking and fishing at the Sutton Wilderness Area.
Design and construction of approximately $100,000,000 of the NORMAN FORWARD quality of life improvement projects are underway. Parks and Recreation projects recently completed include the new Westwood Family Aquatic Center, Westwood Indoor Tennis Facility and park renovations at Oakhurst, Sonoma and Prairie Creek Parks. Projects underway include improvements at Griffin and Ruby Grant parks and a new park (Songbird Park) in the Cedar lane/Monterey neighborhood area. Projects under design include Andrews Skate Park, Reaves Park baseball and softball complex, a new Indoor Aquatic Facility, Indoor Multi-sport Gymnasium, Senior Citizens Center, Adult Softball Complex and new Park Maintenance Facility.
From all of us at the Norman Parks and Recreation Department, we hope you and your family and friends will take the time to get out and enjoy all of the great parks, facilities, programs and events that are available in Norman!
