JOHN BRUCEMixed Media | 420 E. Main Street #1

John Bruce of Chickasha specializes in painting with acrylic and mixed media on canvas and wood. Bruce, who maintains studios in Norman and Chickasha, also assembles and paints altarpieces on wood panels. Bruce has exhibited in Norman, Albuquerque, and Jemez Springs, New Mexico, over the last several years. The driving force

behind Bruce’s work is using color and texture simultaneously to enhance contrasting elements. Bruce is also Professor of Language and Literature at University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in Chickasha. He is a native of San Mateo, California, and holds a Ph.D. in English Literature from University of Glasgow.

All through my Catholic college preparatory education I was told that, although I had some talent, people really didn’t make a living doing art. I did as I was told. I got an education (B.A. Biology, Western New Mexico University; M.S. Vertebrate Zoology, Louisiana State University) and taught Biology for nearly thirty

years. I had a good career, but now I’m fulfilling my life long dream and I get to make art, full time, training with Jonathan Hils, Jesus Moroles and Richard McKown over the years. I taught a Chainsaw sculpture class at the FAC from 2003 to 2008. I am presently teaching an Introduction to Stone Carving class for the FAC.

GINNA DOWLINGPrintmaking | 3809 Shadowridge Drive

Ginna Dowling understands the diversity of printmaking as an art of layering and unpredictability. She uses a variety of techniques including relief, monotype, chine colle, collagraphs, and intaglio, to combine forms that range from subtle to strong and evoke a sense of shifting perception, depth and variation of meaning. Dowling, a native of

Oklahoma City, is the fifth woman artist within three consecutive generations. She grew up surrounded by the arts, and her lineage includes visual artists, sculptors, poets and musicians. After receiving her MFA at the University of Oklahoma, Ginna established INK DROP PRESS, a working and teaching studio for children and adults.

I have been creating art all of my life and have been selling my art professionally for over 30 years. Hand painted silk is the medium in which I express my art now. My formal education is in fashion design, clothing and textiles with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Oklahoma and began my career

as a clothing designer. My mission has always been to create amazing wearable art pieces that the owner can enjoy for years and even decades. I am fascinated by the explosions of color created by mixing a very limited number of dyes. Art and wearable art shouldn’t be disposable — it should last, living with you year after year.

TIM KENNEYOil on Canvas | 800 S. Ponca Avenue

Tim Kenney was exposed to the paintings of Pat Mathews in Santa Fe, New Mexico a few years ago. After seeing Pat's work Tim could not stop thinking about his use of color, shapes and his style. Six weeks later, Tim signed up for painting lessons at the Firehouse

Arts Center in Norman, Oklahoma. In May of 2014 Tim embarked on a 50 day tour with a goal of painting 50 Paintings in 50 States in 50 Days. Tim paints oils on stretched canvas with palette knives and heavy texture. Aspen trees, rivers, mountains, skies, lakes all fit in Tim's paintings.

Barbara Ryan Gartin is a printmaker, painter, jeweler and educator who grew up in northwestern New Jersey, received a B.F.A. from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania and M.F.A. from Old Dominion University in Virginia. After graduate school, Ryan Gartin lived and worked in South Carolina, California and Florida. In 2011, she

relocated to Norman, Oklahoma and is currently working in her studio under the name Two Tables Press, an independent printmaking studio. She was awarded the Norman Arts Council Individual Artist Award in 2013. Her work has also been exhibited in across the United States, Mexico, Nicaragua, Spain, Australia, Ireland and China.

LAURA REESEPrintmaking | 4400 W. Main Street #111

Laura Reese is an artist, printmaker, and arts advocate in Norman. Also an active curator and writer, she ministers to the general public with art and education. She is the Events Coordinator with Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition, a statewide non-profit arts organization. Laura maintains an active presence in the local art community and the national

printmaking community. In an effort to contain and chronicle her emotions, her work serves as self-analysis and a psychological barometer. Moving from self-portraits and textual prints to performances or abstracted paintings, she creates work that hopes to speak to our self-healing as a means of healing each other through humor and sincerity.

Red Dot is home to Douglas Shaw Elder and Richard McKown. The studio will also showcase work from the College Portfolio Program Students of the Firehouse Art Center. Elder is a working artist, primarily producing sculpture, and has exhibited in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Texas, Missouri, Arkansas,

Oklahoma, and Australia. In 2007 he became Executive Director of the Firehouse Art Center (Norman, Oklahoma). Since then he has taken on the role of arts education and non-profit consultant and serves on the Norman Public Arts Board and committees for Creative Oklahoma, TEDxOU, and the Oklahoma Artists Network.

HUNTER ROTHMixed Media | 1103 S. Ponca Avenue

BILLIJO ZORN SNEEDMixed Media | 328 Rosewood Drive

Billijo Zorn Sneed has a BFA from the University of Oklahoma in printmaking and ceramics recently received an MFA in printmaking and painting from the University of Tulsa. She is currently and Adjunct Professor of Printmaking at Oklahoma City University. Billijo’s work may be described as hybrid art, which is a fusion of printmaking, painting,

textiles, needlework and soft sculpture. Her current work consists of small scale, soft sculptures with the addition of recycled goods. The sculptures are indicative of flayed animals, exposing discarded material. The work is constructed with litter in a collaged manner to represent the demise of the animal population.

Hunter Roth was born in New Orleans and raised mostly in Baton Rouge where he earned his BFA from Louisiana State University. He was hired shortly after graduating to manage the Design Shop, a woodshop lab for the College of Art & Design at LSU where he also instructed furniture design classes. In January of 2011, Roth was hired to manage the

Creating/Making Lab for the College of Architecture at the University of Oklahoma and teach furniture design. He is multi-talented artist: a painter, drawer, sculptor, printmaker, furniture maker, digital fabricator and musician. More than ever, his talents as an artist and woodworker are merging to create a cohesive body of work with a totally unique ascetic.

ADAM STEWARTMixed Media | 621 E. Hughbert

TODD JENKINSBronze Sculpture | 621 E. Hughbert

How does an artist become so interested in astrophysics? Well, for the past 23 years, after my university graduation with an art degree, I worked as a bronze foundry expert. I use an induction furnace which uses a magnetic field (not fire) to heat and melt the metal. One cannot see the magnetic field or its structure,

but it certainly is there. For years, I have tried to picture the magnetic field in my mind as I am surrounded by it when I add metal to the crucible. It has been a mystery to me and very intriguing. Since then I have created a body of bronze artwork around the Neutron Star Merger (NSM) cosmic event.

Adam is an art-making, skateboarding, bike-riding, wife-loving, dog-keeping, music-listening, book-filling guy. He began creating art around 1977 as a natural part of being a kid and sold his first piece while in high school. Since then, he has filled over 100 sketchbooks documenting life and developing ideas; his sketchbook is typically within arm’s reach. He earned his BA in Fine Art from Oklahoma Christian

University in Oklahoma City and worked in graphic design for several years before tapping in to his desire to teach. He has lived in Norman since 2001. He has designed one of Norman’s ducks and one of Norman’s sculptural bike racks. He laughs pretty often because life is filled with funny stuff. He plays outside as often as possible because he believes sunshine should not be wasted.

and works in Norman, Oklahoma. Michael has shown work in various places around the country including New York, Boston, Washington D.C., Chicago, New Orleans and Oklahoma City. Her work reflects her love for the bizarre and the ambiguous nature of reality.

JUANITA WILLIAMSOil on Canvas | 122 E. Main Street

Since retiring from York International, I have centered my interests in fiber arts. And for the past 10 years, I have enjoyed working from my studio above the MAINSITE Contemporary Art. In the fabric world, my first project was handbags, made from fabric purchased throughout the United States and South America.

Other projects included “Mommy & Me” aprons, decorated jean jackets, memory quilts and hats. Hats are knit and some felted. I work with my daughter on other knit and crochet items including shawls, jewelry and scarves. Our goal is to develop new, exciting items that meets our ever-changing world.

Bill Williams has a BFA degree from the University of Tulsa and has studied painting from Oklahoma's own Charles Banks Wilson and with internationally known watercolor artist Milford Zornes of California. He credits both of these teachers for inspiring him with the advice that to be the best painter you can be, "It's important to

have a design that conveys a message, and that every work of art convey a feeling or emotion." Williams paints images with a conscious regard for the principles of design and feels a sense of duty to portray a positive statement in a traditional style. He operates a photography, painting and studio gallery in Norman.
