BOBBY ANDERSONWeaving | 630 Rancho Dr.

My first contact with weaving was as a child while visiting my cousin. She was weaving rugs and I was totally bit-ten by the bug. I watched her weave for hours, seeing the rug develop inch by inch. It wasn’t until 20 years later that I was able to take weaving classes. I took art classes in high school and graduated from college with a BA in art, with concentrated studies in paint-ing and ceramics, but neither of the universities that I attended offered a weaving program. It was not until I moved to Okla-homa that I found someone to teach me how to weave. I found a great group of women and men, who were just as crazy about weaving as I. I took

every workshop and class every chance I could. My designs don’t always start with a sketch. Most of the time they start with a dye pot filled with a beautiful color. Once the painting is done I wrap the yarn in plastic wrap and it is cured for 24 hours. Every design is carefully planned, except for the warp painting. I will plan my weave structure and the dimen-sions of my fabric but, the painting is all freehand and spontaneous. It is difficult to say what exactly inspires me; my work is intuitive and most of my color inspiration comes from nature. The process is exhausting and time consuming but, the result is gratifying.

ALEJANDRO BAGAJEWICZSculpture | 3601 N. Flood (Warehouse north of OnCue)

Alejandro Bagajewicz was born in Argentina in the year 1978. He Attended the University of Oklahoma and received his BA Visual Arts. He took advantage of the exchange programs at OU and decided to go to the Catholic University of Lima Peru for 1 year. Soon after, for the period of 2 years he attended University of Bologna and Academia di belle Arte in Italy. “I strongly believe that traveling, studying and submerging myself in culture has shaped the way I engage with people and my art. From the thought process that happens by knowing different languages to those

techniques learned by traveling and engaging in a particular material. Travel has given me access to different media that I can use to create. From Ceramics, wood, stone, metal and concrete. After many years of working each individual medium I can say today that I have the chance to put all of these materials and skills to function. It is fascinating to me because this has to do with giving an answer to the questions that the object formulates during the each execution. I feel that this is the necessary drive and that essentially the desire that it takes to confront each piece”

ETHAN ELGERSMAWood-working | 422 E. Main Street

Ethan Elgersma has been carving trees for five years now and is the main sculpture artist-in-residence at North Wind Studio. Ethan's experience with woodworking dates back to the early 1990's when he apprenticed with his father as a carpenter in southern NJ. In 2009 Ethan moved to the boundary waters region of northern MN and fulfilled his lifelong dream of apprenticing under a hand-crafted log home builder. He worked for two years for Heim Log homes (recently on National Geographic channel as the reality television show “Cabin Fever”), sculpting and building log cabins all over the north country. During this time Ethan

began sculpting with a chainsaw, utilizing the abundant material and tools available at the log yard. Within two years his sculptures were becoming known all across the state and featured in local papers. His invitation to the national chainsaw carving competition in Hackensack, MN, where he carved a seven foot replica of the statue in Rome of the archangel Michael slaying the dragon, was featured in the television show Common Ground as the artist of the month. In 2014 Ethan and his wife, Tobia, moved to Norman, Oklahoma to fulfill a decade long dream to open an art studio dedicated to creating beautiful, high-grade artwork and furniture.

CARLOS MENDOZAMixed Media | 305 E. Main Street

Carlos Mendoza was born a dreamer, a real-life derrame who sees things in colors that are different from those that are apparently before us. His pues show suffering and joy, good and evil, in their extremes, with the strength of what líes underneath the apparently tranquil surface of this world. What is revealed to Carlos through his visión is not what is readily visible. His eye is one of the deeper meaning, of what objects represent, not of what they are in the strictly material sense. The colors he applies to these

meanings tell us this, crying out desperately. And he applies hisown shades to everything, those of his feeling, not of reality. His energétic tones are representations of the passion he sees in the people his art portrays, for his art is of people, of how he sees them, and of the dreams he and they share. Carlos colorful dreams are of the people in our world and in his life and love; they go back to the history of his country and even to the cartoons he watched as a child in Mexico. They are characters that send a message that is totally outside the mainstream.
