What is coming: patient monitoring

• In the next 10 to 20 years (8 to 12?) medical patients should be living in a better world

– Real-time monitoring any time, any place, by light-weight non-intrusive intelligent body sensors and processors

– Smaller, highly mobile, low-cost image scanning for related body objects of concern (e.g., malignant tumors)

– On-board alphanumeric data and related image object data transmitted not only to the traditional large medical centers of today, but also directly to the mobile and roaming physician or others most concerned (e.g., family members)

– More rapid diagnosis and detection of complications so that early treatment can be initiated with improved health care
