and microbiology, the Norit Aquaflex™ system provides superior separation performance and effectively rejects
viruses and chlorine resistant organisms, such as Cryptosporidium and Giardia.

The newly upgraded Norit Aquaflex™ UF system combines the vertical design of Norit Aquaflex™
inside-out technology with the advantages of a minor bleed flow across the membrane surface as
well as a module with a larger surface area. This allows your system to be designed with
higher flux rates, reduced footprint and the flexibility to treat a broader range of feed water
qualities.
By applying a minor bleed flow, the fouling layer on the membrane surface is minimized and the
fouling potential of the membranes is significantly reduced. Consequently for similar feed water
qualities, Norit Aquaflex™ provides higher fluxes, longer filtration times, less membrane cleaning,
and higher recoveries, which means lower investment and operational costs.
The bleed flow is typically 5-10 percent of the permeate flow and is
normally fed back directly to the feed. For small systems the bleed
flow is fed back to the feed tank. For larger systems a small dedicated
circulation pump is incorporated into the skid design. Even for feed
water with high turbidity, outside the acceptable range for normal
dead-end operation, Norit Aquaflex™ can be used by discharging a
portion of the bleed flow instead of recycling to the feed.
The new Norit Aquaflex™ system integrates Norit Smart Technology,
a newly developed automated intelligence algorithm that ensures
maximum system performance and run-time while minimizing the
energy and chemical usage. The system can respond in real-time to feed
water quality and system changes by adjusting settings as needed, thus
eliminating excess energy and chemicals. Norit Smart Technology
automatically optimizes the actual performance of the installation in
real-time.

Although great alone, the best performance is achieved when the new Norit Aquaflex™ module is used with the new Norit Aquaflex™

Today, service is much more than just repair and maintenance. Service contracts are an integral part of your preventive maintenance
program. During project management, Norit’s service team is introduced to the customer and assists with commissioning. On-site the
service team gathers valuable information about the local conditions of the operation. With performance data monitoring, we are able
to acquire long-term data, which ensures that troubleshooting and service activities can be very efficient and to the point in case of an
emergency. By taking advantage of the full service contract a company can be assured that the potential for continuous improvement of a
plant is explored on a regular basis and place its focus on the core business.
Norit’s lifecycle/service management can be divided into two phases: design and operation. Proposal/planning, contract management, and
engineering up to commissioning are typical design services. Start-up, monitoring, consulting (24/7 helpdesk), maintenance/ replacement
of components, evaluation and optimization are part of the operation services. The overall goal is to secure that an operation is running in
the best possible and most cost-efficient way.
