Admirals take two wins from first three-in-three  NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk Admirals were able to win three of their last four matchups against Eastern Conference opponents. After three consecutive home victories against Quad City, Greenville and Wheeling, the Admirals dropped a game on the road to the South Carolina Stingrays, their third game in three days. Norfolk is tied for third in the East Division as they enter the week with four divisional contests on tap versus Elmira and Reading.  Norfolk was at home this past Friday against the Greenville Swamp Rabbits. After the game was notched at 2-2 entering the final period, Connor Rankin and Alexandre Ranger each scored their first professional goal to lift Norfolk to a 4-2 victory.  The Admirals grabbed their third consecutive win after a three-goal first period in a 6-2 defeat of the Wheeling Nailers. Norfolk was off to a fast start after Connor Rankin, Charles Olivier Roussel, and Josh Currie each put up first-period goals. The Admirals kept rolling with a goal from Ranger in the second, and two more in the third, including a shorthanded strike from Currie and an empty-netter off the stick of Steven Whitney. Ty Rimmer managed to guard 36 of 38 shots between the posts, while Wheeling’s Brian Foster saved 25 of Norfolk’s 30 attempts.

South Carolina hosted the Admirals on Sunday afternoon and dealt the visitors a 3-1 loss. Nic Riopel made his debut in net for Norfolk after being acquired in a trade from Rapid City for future considerations. He gave up one late in the first period and two more in the second, which proved to be enough for the Stingrays to secure a victory. Marco Roy was the lone goal-scorer for Norfolk, his first as a professional.   ON THE RADIO/INTERNETAll regular-season games will air live on 1650 AM WHKT "The Answer" and online at 1650theanswer.com. ·         Alexis Loiseau registered his first career AHL point yesterday with an assist in a 6-2 win for the Bakersfield Condors. Additionally, Loiseau posted a plus-3 which tied for a game high. He has now played three games with the Condors.

 ADMIRALS’ LOG

· Admirals forward and alternate captain Josh Currie dazzled Saturday night with two goals including a sensational effort on a penalty kill late in the third period. Currie carried the puck into the Wheeling zone, split two defenders, and whipped a shot just inside the far post for Norfolk's sixth goal of the night. His first two-goal contest of the season has him averaging one point per game (4-5=9). 

· Three rookies logged their first career goal over the weekend, two of which extended point streaks. Connor Rankin and Alexandre Ranger each scored Friday night versus Greenville, and Marco Roy had the only goal yesterday afternoon. Rankin potted a goal in his professional debut and again on Saturday before assisting on Roy's goal against South Carolina. He has two goals and an assist over the last three games. After tallying a marker yesterday in Charleston, Roy lengthened his point streak to four games. In that span, the first-year attacker has a goal and five assists. Ranger went on to have a goal and an assist Saturday night versus Wheeling.

The Admirals (4-5-0-0) prepare for an East Division doubleheader against the team that is tied with Norfolk for third place in the division, the Elmira Jackals (4-5-0-0). Their first meeting will be in Hampton Roads this evening at 7:15 p.m. The Admirals will then hit the road to upstate New York to face the Jackals on Friday, November 13, at 7:05 p.m. Norfolk could have trouble stopping Elmira forward Cason Hohmann, as he leads the team in both assists and points with six and nine, respectively. Jackals goalie Sam Marotta has a (3-1-0) record in five appearances between the pipes, but only has a SV% of .889. Motte (288)  Following Elmira, the Admirals turn south for a two-game series against the second-place team of the East Division, the Reading Royals. Norfolk will have their hands full with Royals forward Justin Crandall, who leads the ECHL in points with 4-9=13. In only eight appearances this season, Crandall is averaging well over a point per game and is the focal point of the Reading scouting report. Reading goaltender Martin Ouellette is eighth amongst ECHL goalies in GAA with 1.68 and won two of his first three starts. The first meeting between the clubs is Saturday, November 14 at 7:00 p.m. in Santander Arena. The series will conclude on Sunday, November 15, when the puck drops at 4:00 p.m.
