your generous donation of two electric

Rock Band will get great use out of them!
The Canadian Moose Hockey
Tour
is coming to
Nords Wharf PS The Canadian Moose is an organisation dedicated to
playing and promoting the game of hockey in all corners
of the world. 2019 marks their 30 year anniversary of
travelling the world and Australia is their current tour.
On Friday, 9 August the team will be visiting NWPS and
will give a brief talk on hockey and life in Canada.
Students will get a chance to see an ice hockey kit up
close and ask questions. The team will join us at
12:30pm after our Education Week BBQ and parents
and carers are welcome to stay and listen to the talk.
This is a great cultural experience for all and an exciting
way to end our Education Week celebrations.
Lost Property The contents of the lost property basket were washed
and sorted during the school holidays. Any unlabelled
items have been donated to the uniform shop. This
includes many hats. For a limited time second hand
hats will be available to purchase for $2.
Please take the time to clearly label your child’s
belongings. Lost property doesn’t remain lost for long if
we can return it to the rightful owner.
Come and join the fun and help us to celebrate
book week.
Thursday, 22 August 2pm in the C.O.L.A.
Students can dress up as their favourite storybook
character. In fact, we can’t wait to see the student’s
dazzling costumes. Each class will participate in the
book week parade, walking around the school to show
off their fabulous costumes. Students are actively
encouraged to carry a copy of the book that their
character is from. We look forward to seeing the
student’s creative flair and homemade costumes are
always appreciated. Feel free to embrace this year’s
theme to inspire your costume choice. Please try to
choose storybook characters from books children have
read and not movie characters.

Principal’s News
Welcome back for Term 3! I hope everyone had an enjoyable and relaxing holiday are ready for the busy term ahead!
We held our parent teacher interviews on Monday. Thank you to all the family members who came to see their child/children’s teachers. If you have any feedback or ideas regarding how we run parent teacher interviews please come and see me. We are always striving to improve our practice to ensure that it meets the needs of our school community.
It is Education Week next week. The theme this year is ‘Every Student, Every Voice’. Due to the change of days for Zone Athletics we have had to move the open classrooms and barbeque lunch to Friday from 10am. I am sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause but it was out of our control. We look forward to sharing the quality teaching and learning that happens in our classrooms every day with you!
Last Friday we held our NAIDOC celebrations. Thank you to all the community members who were able to attend the assembly and hear Mrs Wright’s wonderful Acknowledgement of Country and listen to her explanation of the significance of the smoking ceremony. Jonathan Wright from Dhinewan Mentoring and Terry Hayek engaged our students in fun, interesting activities that helped to increase their understanding of Aboriginal culture. Thank you to Miss Mills for her organisation of this great event. This morning 4/5 and 5/6 worked with Andrew Balzer and Jarrod Bourke from the stem T4L team to learn how to use the film making kit that we have loaned and develop their coding skills with the Dash and Dot robots. I am looking forward to seeing all of the creative film projects that they produce!
