Writing is our focus! It’s great to see the educational and social gains our children have made during this difficult time. The school introduced a focussed literacy time once every day with specific strategies that focus on the child’s needs in English (writing). It’s pleasing to see the results as well as the child’s confidence within themselves. We will continue to share the great news stories of student achievement.

Photographs and video from the event are attached to the newsletter.

Here is the Term 3 summary of restrictions in place across our school site: Under the Qld Chief Health Officer Directive, any student who is unwell must not attend school.

Schools must ask parents/carers to collect their child from school if they are unwell.

Assembly will now recommence however, parents/carers are unable to attend. We trust families understand the importance of these guidelines are for the safety of everyone. Have a great week,

Whilst it was disappointing to not have parents able to attend our Athletics Carnivals this week, it was very pleasing to see the outstanding levels of participation by our students and their excellent behaviour. A big thank you to Mr Luhrs for his incredible organisation of these events and to all staff who supported him and students to ensure a smooth running and enjoyable carnival. I asked several students what they had enjoyed most about the carnivals and “the organisation and order of events” was emphasised by all. Great job everyone!

A couple of reminders for students and families: Uniform We have noticed a number of students recently coming to school wearing items, which are not part of our school uniform, as formulated by our P&C.

this includes the expectation for students to wear white ankle length socks and

for safety and security reasons the wearing of jewellery is limited to one sleeper or stud per ear and one wristwatch on the arm. No other jewellery is permitted.

Kiss & Ride Just a friendly reminder that the Kiss & Ride is a 2-minute drop-off and pick-up zone which operates similarly to an airport-pick up. In order for the Kiss & Ride to operate effectively, if your child/children are not ready for you please move on, turn around at the roundabout and then re-enter the zone. As per the signage, the Kiss & Ride is a 2-minute zone. With a 2:35pm bell time, there is no need to park in the 2-minute zone any earlier than 2:33pm. If you are the first to arrive, please proceed to the very front of the zone. The 2-minute zone will work best for all users if it is used correctly. The use of the zone will be monitored and local law enforcement may be required if is not used correctly. When used correctly, the Kiss & Ride is a great facility to make pick-up more convenient. Displaying your child’s family name in the windscreen of your vehicle assists staff to reduce waiting time and is particularly helpful on wet afternoons. Thank-you for your ongoing cooperation.

Thank you to everyone for the warm welcome back to Noosaville, it has been lovely to see familiar smiling faces. Thank you to Kelly who has done a wonderful job in my role in the last couple of years. Our future priority facility plans are under covered walkways between Prep and B Block and from the Hall to O and P Blocks. Also an outdoor covered area adjacent to B Block. These covered walkways will allow for sun and wet weather protection for students and staff. Also, on the facility upgrade is enclosing the shelter area adjacent to the Resource Centre. This will provide our school with extra learning and storage space. I look forward to the exciting opportunities that await at Noosaville for the future. Warm regards, Janet

Senior Athletics Carnival We were certainly lucky with the weather this year. The rain held off just enough to enable the senior carnival to go ahead last Monday. Congratulation to our winning house team, Elanda, who took out the championship for the first time since 2009. Team spirit was alive and well this year with our competitors being on the receiving end of some enthusiastic cheering from our student spectators. I am continually impressed by the quality of the war cry’s each time we gather for our carnivals. My thanks to all our students whom we were all very proud of. Yes, there were some brilliant contests in each of the event areas, but we also witnessed some first class behaviour while either competing or spectating. The carnival was run under a different format this year requiring some spectating time and students coped with this admirably. The “fun factor” was also certainly at the forefront this year as students delighted in being outdoors and participating for their sports house teams.….well done all! Congratulations is also in order for our staff who, without assistance from our parent helpers and students from St Teresas, really had to step up and work hard to get through each age group to ensure all events were completed on time. Thank you to Mr Hobson and Mrs Portch, who despite being incredibly busy, still came up and took videos and photographs of our students in action, some of which have been loaded to our Facebook page. Thank you to Mr Scott for all his assistance prior to the carnival as well. To Jason and Dave for all their assistance getting the ovals ready, setting up and packing up…….thanks also. Not forgetting our wonderful P&C canteen staff, led by Cholena – Katie, Michelle, Carly and Joe, superb job feeding the masses….thank you.

Senior Sports Day

To even out the advantage having a large group of competitors brings with it, from 2020 onwards, overall winning sports house teams for swimming, cross country and athletics will be determined via an aggregate score (Points divided by number of competitors), rather than just total points scored.

Noosa District Athletics Carnival Unfortunately, the Noosa District Athletics Carnival for 2020 has been cancelled. Due to COVID restrictions, we are no longer able to access Giraween sports complex. Other alternatives were investigated and exhausted, so my apologies to our super keen athletes who were raring to compete at this next level. All districts within the Sunshine Coast Region have been unable to schedule a District Trial and the Sunshine Coast Regional Trial was also cancelled.

Junior Athletics Carnivals Well done to all our Prep, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 students who participated in the Junior Athletics Carnival on Tuesday. We were greeted with a perfect day and it was so good to see our students joining in and enjoying themselves. I think the tug – o – war event may have been a favourite this year. There were some really competitive house groups who delighted in dragging the opposition teams off their mark! Big, big thank you to our amazing staff who really had their work cut out for them this year without help from our Noosaville families. Their enthusiasm and effort to create a memorable day for our students was much appreciated. Awesome effort from our student leaders as well. They were simple outstanding in their role as helpers for each year level and I have heard nothing but positive praise about their contribution to the day…well done student leaders. Thank you to our photographer Mr Hobson, who made the time to come up and take footage to post to Facebook to keep our families updated as well as Sue Portch and Julie Rodgers for their photographic skills as well.

2020 Colour Fun Run Wednesday September 16 is our day! Sponsorship books will be distributed to classes next week.

We need you to register for online fundraising….…….PLEASE!!

Our first goal for the Colour Fun Run this year is to have every single student registered for online fundraising. It does work….see info below from The School Fun Run company:

CHECK OUT THESE 2020 FUNDRAISING RESULTS: Milton Public School has never worked with us before. In their first TWO DAYS of fundraising they've raised over

$14,400! That’s right, over the weekend just gone, they have been able to create incredible success.

Our Lady of the Way Primary School raised $13,381 in their first week of fundraising with 133 students actively fundraising.

Holy Family Primary School raised $14,000 in 2019. They have raised $23,000 this year. They started fundraising

during COVID and did not set a goal because they did not want to be let down after their 2019 success. Instead they raised approx. $9,000 more.

Moranbah East State School raised $46,000 during COVID-19 to double the total raised from their last School Fun

Run.

100% OF 2020 SCHOOLS HAVE BEATEN THEIR PREVIOUS RESULT

Gladstone Primary School is a school of just 60 students. They raised $9,925! They started fundraising during COVID and set a goal of $2,000 which they thought was ambitious at the time.

Dapto Public School is located in an area affected by the bushfires before COVID hit. They did not want to promote the fundraising because they did not want to pressure their community. Despite this, they raised $35,000 – which

was more than their previous event in 2018.

St Finbarr’s Primary School raised $25,000 in 2019 and due to their success, they were able to drop their other major fundraisers (which were a trivia night and a parent’s dinner). In 2020 they have already raised $25,331 and

they are not done yet!

Mount Rogers Primary School became the second highest ACT school of all time by raising $29,367 during COVID! It all goes to show that community is wanting to support the kids they love!

When the registration window to the online registration opens, please make sure you register your child/children for online fundraising. This year we really want to kick some goals!

Our year 6 student leaders, “The Colour Crew” have been visiting classrooms to introduce themselves and to make sure classes have viewed the video clips below. A lucky staff member will be able to nominate another teacher to cover a playground duty for them, following the lucky draw for staff who viewed the videos by the due date with their classes.

There is also an opportunity for you to assist in the weeks leading up to the event as well. If you have the time and you are interested, please email me [email protected] or Sharon Evans [email protected]
