What is YUMA?
*Source: Frank Gens, IDC Directions Conference, Key Battles and Strategies for Dominance on the 3rd Platform.
Yuma is the internal project name for a new NonStop OS capability that allows NonStop customers to take advantage of InfiniBand to integrate NonStop X applications with applications running on Linux platforms.
Yuma allows applications to move data directly from user address space on one platform to user address space on another platform via RDMA. This lets applications bypass kernel-mode execution layers transport latency is dramatically improved.
Advantages include:• Hybrid application that appears as a single application to end users• Expansion of application functionality with minor porting effort• Ability to improve fault tolerance of Linux applications by moving key functions to NonStop X
YUMA will be available to NonStop X customers later this year.

Future– Additional compatible features: Optimizer hints,
Materialized views and others.– PL/SQL Support - a widely used procedural language in
Oracle applications.– User Defined functions
Goal: Bring Oracle applications to NonStop SQL/MX with little to no porting effort. Scale out Oracle applications without RAC complexity and limitations.
Today – SQL/MX has introduced Oracle compatibility features in recent releases
including: External Sequence Generators, Built-in functions, SQL dialect, etc
– JDBC and ODBC connectivity is already available– Our partners Merlon with SQLXPress and Gravic with Shadowbase
offer ETL tools for data migration.– Two customers in Japan have successfully migrated. JDBC based
applications use blobs.– Migration assistance available via the NonStop ATC.
