SAC Minutes Wednesday, September 21, 2016

At 6:24 p.m. the meeting was called to order by Mrs. Garcia

1. New Members for 16-17: Mrs. Garcia and Ms. Saef shared the SAC committee members for

the 16-17 school year. Mrs. Steffenson offered to be the SAC Secretary, Mrs. Garcia offered to continue as the SAC Chair. Mr. Robert Harms made a motion to accept all members and positions on the SAC. Mrs. Rachel Steffenson seconded the motion. The SAC team voted unanimously to accept the new SAC Committee & positions..

2. Year in Review: Ms. Saef shared that PRE is an A. Also shared the Everglades Zone and West Broward Zone schools’ grades. FSA test results were discussed as well.

3. A+ Proposals: The SAC team discussed how to spend the A+ funds this year. Ms. Saef shared the proposal submitted and voted on last year. The team discussed ideas and came up with a proposal to submit to the staff. See below & attached.

o Mrs. Glover made a motion to put forward an A+ Proposal with one way of distributing the money (see attached) and the second choice of “None of the Above”. Mrs. Steffenson made a Seconded the motion. All SAC Members voted in favor of the proposal

o The staff will get the proposals tomorrow and then a Vote will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 27th, 2016. Make-up vote will be on Wednesday, Sept. 28th, 2016

4. By-Laws 16-17: Mrs. Garcia reviewed Panther Run’s SAC By-Laws for the 16-17 school year. Mr. Harms made a motion to accept the By-Laws. Mrs. Lopez seconded the motion. All SAC Members voted in favor of the proposal

5. 16-17 School Improvement Plan: Mrs. Garcia reviewed the status of the SIP. Reviewed the responsibilities and duties of the School Advisory Council.

6. Curriculum Committee Reports Math: Mrs. Robinson shared:

• Math FSA on Computer for 3rd, 4th & 5th • Teachers are communicating with parents through different means (

• Math Night: March 29th, 2017 at Super Target • IXL can be accessed at home • Grammar portion also can be accessed at home • Kindergarten – Choose not to do a Prerequisite, but students need 70% or above on the

chapter test. • 1st, 2nd, 3rd – 50% or below on Prerequisite and below 70% on chapter tests. • 4th, 5th – Level 1 or 2 on FSA • New this year: 3rd, 4th, & 5th grade will be taking the FSA Math on the computer. • For Math Test, most teachers use technology and planners to communicate upcoming

tests. Science: Mrs. Garcia shared:

• Science Family Night: Wed., Jan. 18th, 2017 • S.T.E.M. Olympiad: Jan. 26th & 27th, 2017 • Extended Science has begun.

Literacy: Mrs. Pinto shared:

• Literacy Night: Oct. 26th, 2016 • District starting new Benchmark Assessment System (BAS)

Questions:

1. How is PRE preparing students to take the FSA on the computer? a. Teachers are working with the students in 3rd, 4th, & 5th on becoming more

familiar with taking the FSA on the computer. b. FSA practice is available on the computer at home.

Mr. Harms made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 6:49 p.m.
