• POS – Assign each a La Carte item its own key – Assure that pricing information is up to date – Most systems have a sales report or profit and loss

• Manual Systems – Create a spreadsheet or work with your accountant

• Product Selections – If you can, select items for a La Carte that are different from your

Reimbursable entrée – Request velocity reports from your distributor – Item costs per item are then separated

• Ie: John Muir HS –NSLP & John Muir HS - Snack

– Run purchase item reports from your distributor by location – Item costs per item are then separated and totaled for you

• Separate Distributors – Who was awarded your Snack item bid? – Can you order non reimbursable items from one vendor and

reimbursable items from another? – Bread, Milk, Frozen, Dry Goods, Non-Program, Paper, etc….

• Develop a system that works for you!

• Every district has its own resources and needs

• HAVE A PLAN and Written Procedures in place and documented for your Administrative Review

• If you haven’t used the Non-Program Tool from the USDA, start now. If you have time, try to go back as far as you can document.
