Nomination and Election Committee (NEC)

Report

A little history

• Creation: regional council June 2013 Stockholm Prepared by taskforce

• First election: 14/10/ 2013• Declared elected: Shonina, Tove* and André• * Tove: couldn’t attend the whole regional

council Proposal replacement by Agniezska (according to the internal regulations a delegate from the regional council can be proposed).

Task

• As independent body • 1. ensure transparent and democratic elections (according

to the internal regulations); guide the elections procedure during the regional council

• 2. stimulate candidates according to regional variation, professional occupation….

• How we worked– By Skype-meetings, email, …– In consensus– Reporting to MA’s en RO/REC

Stimulate candidatures

E-mail December 2013– General guidelines NEC– First appeal for candidates

Jan. – April 2014Informal approach of possible candidates

Results

• On the whole: good mix of candidates from most regions,

• REC: good mix of candidates from most regions

• Global Council: first time three candidates• Audit-committee: almost two• Honorary functions: one candidate for each

function

Transparent, democratic elections, according internal regulations

• According to internal regulations– Some inconsistencies: vote by acclamation, not

mentioned in regulations, becomes declared elected if there is only one candidate = change formulation in agenda

Transparent, democratic elections according to internal regulations

• When two candidates: always secret ballot• When one candidate: declared elected– Discussion with REC this morning and NEC on• Possibility of secret ballot when one candidate• According to internal regulations there is no 100 %

guaranteed legal solution now, so it can’t be done.• Proposition: NEC will make a draft recommendation on

this and other election issues which need a review of the internal regulations for the next elections to come
