• To go ahead with Step 2 and 3, one will consider safety (wet grip) and environmental aspects (rolling recistance).

•1 aug 2003: all new e-type approvals must fullfill the noise limits in Step 1.

• 4 febr 2005: all new registrated cars (trailers) < 3,5 t, must have tyres approved for noise if refering to Directive 92/23/EC and not R.30/R.54.

• 1 okt 2009: all new tyres (<185mm) for sale on the market must be appoved for noise

• ELV directive states a ban for balancing weights of heavy metals (more information later in the program)

• Some Car Manufactuers wants to introduce Tyre Brand restrictions. This is not legal inside EC.

• USA have now requirements for TPMS. All Cars from model year 2008 must have some form of tyre pressure control.

• New marking (RF) for “Self Supporting Tyres”. Tyres which can run without air pressure for 80 km at 80km/h. (ex. 205/55RF16). This will be introduced in the regulations in 2006. ISO symbol for these tyres.
