    We

    are not, however, looking forward

    to

    getting

less and less hot water as

    the

    spring weather comes upon

    us.

    Soon,

    we'l l only

    have

    hot water

    on Wednesday

    and

    Sunday

    n ights aga in .

    We a r e now well i n t o the

    semester

    a t the Korea Bible

    Seminary.

    I am

    teaching

    a

    conversat ional English class to

    30

    students as well

    as

    teaching

s imple Engli sh to 60 kindergarten students, Mike has been

    teaching

English to some of the staff at the seminary.

    You may wonder why

    we

    are teaching English, Well,

    the

    Koreans

    are

required to study English from middle school through high school, and

    some do major

    in

    English

    in

    college.

    They

    mostly

    study

    grammar,

    but

    hardly

    ever have

    an onnortunity to use i t .

    One

    of the reasons that they

    want to

    learn the

    language is

    in the

    hope that they will be

    hired

    as

    tour

    guides

    for

the 1988 Olympics to be held in Seoul, Our

    classes

    give the Koreans

    an opportunity to

    practice

    the

    Eng lish they have

    learned- in two way-

    c o n v e r s a t i o n s .

    Oni O

    X ENGLISH This word

    we thought of

    as a curse, but was

    actually

    meant as a blessing.

    We

    have had so

    many opportunities to

    teach

    English that

    we f inally

    had

    to

    say,

    No

    We

    don't

    have time.

    I t

    bothered us

    that people

    kept ask ing

    us, and that

    we

    kept refusing thei r

    requests.

    All

the while vie were justifying ourselves by thinking, Humph

    teaching

    English

i s n t why we came to Korea, Then i t occurred to us that

    these

    were

    opportunities

    in

    which

    we

    could witness

    for Christ,

    Not

    only

    would we

be teaching a language, but more importantly,

    we

    would be teaching

    about God's

    l o v e '

    Do you remember our

    plans

    to

    become

in vo lv ed w ith

    the mobile

    medical

unit? Well, the medical work has encountered many

    obstacles

    along the way.

    The

    van is equipped with

    many

    costly

    supplies

    and equipment, but as

    of

    yet,

    there is no safe place

    to

    park

    i t .

We do not have a garage

    to

    keep

    i t in,

    Mike has s t a r t e d p r e a c h i n g every

    Mike

    would

l ike to share a l iv ing

    lesson

    with you.

It is amazing how much we

    are

    influenced y spending time

    with

    others,

    I

    have found myself

    more

    than

    once

    pondering over

f rus tra ting s ituat ions .

    During these

    times,

    i t has become

    apparent to me

    that

    many of the

    influences that

    helped me

through these situations were biblical truths

    that

    were instilled,

in me by my father. I t wasn t

    that

    this training

    came

    in a formal

time of teaching and I*m not even sure if either of us realized

    the

    teaching

    that

    was going on

    at the

    time I was influenced

    by the

    way ray

father acted and the things he

    did.

    I t was his

    action

    that

    gave

    value to the

    words he

    spoke. I t

    is

    only now

    that

    I

    am beginning

    to

    re aliz e that i t

    is

    these values that are

the grea tes t th ing

    a

fa the r can ever give

    a

    son.

    I t

is this pov;er of influence that has become

    apparent to

    me

    in

    yet another

    v. ay

    by

    my

    Korean

    friends,

    I have

    not

    learned

    to

    understand them

    in

    language,

    yet

    they

    teach

    me so

    much

    by

the i r acuions. The Koreans lack many

    material

    things that we

    rake for

    erranted,

    and through

    th i s , they have

    taught me

    a

    valuable

    quality. They have overwhelmed

    me

    by their dependency

    on God

    Their p raye r

    times seem

    to

    be

    f i l led with

    a

    sense of

    crying

out to God for help. They t rust in God because sometimes

    a l l that

    they

    have to

    hold

    on to are His promises.

    I t

    is

    not

    uncommon to hear of

    the

    Koreans taking off to

    what they ca l l

    prayer

mountains . Here they pray and fast from one day to

    two months

    or

    more.

    Their

    dependency

has t ruly encouraged me to

    search

    and

ask what ray strongest dependencies are . Sometimes

    I

    see

    myself

re ly ing on my past

    accomplishments

    more

    than

    on

    God*s

    grace,

    I

    am beginning

    to re aliz e that

    the

    dependency I had

    on

    my parents

    while

    growing

    up

    needs to

    be

    relearned and applied

    to my Chr i s t i an

    l i f e ,

    I wonder i f t h i s might be one reason

    Jesus

    said, I

    t e l l you

    the t ruth,

    unless you change

    and become

    l ike

    l i t t l e children you wil l

    never

    enter the kingdom of

    heaven. Mat t ,

    18:3

    enjoy

    reading

    your l e t t e r s so much. Thanks
