• Inform LandWarNet 2011 of current capabilities’

development efforts for the LandWarNet Initial

Capabilities Document 2013-2017.

• Aligns future development to overcome adaptive enemies

while operating in uncertain and complex environments.

• Not a new start but a requirement to coordinate existing

programs, emerging capabilities, and resources.

• Unity of Command and enforced common policies and standards –

establishes and enforces common data standards, information service standards,

acquisition and certification to ensure seamless flow of information between all

Army, JIIM and mission partners users and systems.

– Enabling capabilities: governance, unified network operations, and common operating

environment.

• Enable Army and JIIM operations in and through a highly available LWN –

assures computing and communications resources, services, and

information are available, accessible and safe-guarded at the edge to support

Army, JIIM and mission partners operations.

– Enabling capabilities: enterprise network transport (regional hub node, Standardized

Tactical Entry Point (STEP)/Teleport, commercial mobile/wireless/fixed infrastructure),

global and regional cyber centers, network management and system management.

• Assured Information and Services – ensures that the Army, JIIM and mission

partners are provided timely assured global access to required data, services, and

network enabled capabilities at the edge.

– Enabling capabilities: infrastructure providing collaborative services (email, portal,

messaging, mobile applications, voice, video), storage, backup and recovery, content

management, area processing center, installation processing node, virtualization

management, storage infrastructure management, trouble ticketing and work flow and

capacity monitoring system.

• Authentication, Confidentiality, Integrity and Non-Repudiation through

Identity Management - ensures that any authorized user or system can

access the LWN during normal, degraded, and disconnected conditions with a

trusted, single set of identity credentials for all domains.

– Enabling capabilities: enterprise identity management, IT Asset Management, public

key infrastructure, directory services, network access control and multi-level

classification management.

• Defend the LWN – actions taken to protect, monitor, analyze, detect, and

respond to unauthorized activity, as well as unintentional, non-malicious

user errors within the LWN.

– Enabling capabilities: computer network defense, Cyberspace and Electromagnetic

Spectrum situational awareness, intrusion protection system, host based security

system, security information management, data security at rest, cryptographic

services/management, spectrum sensing and deconfliction
