One of the most important request from the industrial world is to create a betterworking environment, which is synonymous of better efficiency, production lowercost and better life quality of workers. The reduction of function noise goes withno doubt into that direction. Hydraulic pumps, above all those for high pressure,entail noise and/or vibration level that are unacceptable for certain newapplications.This is the main reason why Settima has designed a new gear pumps generationcapable to eliminate acoustic emissions. Parameters influencing emissions ofhydraulic noise are:• cavitation• pressure peaks arising from trapping fluid between gear teeth• ripple or flow pulsation

The CONTINUUM® no noise helical rotor pump has been developed bySettima in 2003. Its innovative concept is patented in many countries. TheCONTINUUM® pump soon became a point of reference for no-noise, low-pulsations high pressure applications, up to 275 bar in continuous operation andwith a maximum peak of 300 bar. The CONTINUUM® pump is able to operatefor a multitude of applications, spacing from industrial to mobile, toenvironmental industry, and in all applications where low noise emissions aremandatory for a safe environment.
The 2VHL CONTINUUM® no noise helical rotor pump has followed the stepof its predecessor, the CONTINUUM® pump, in providing the most silent andthe lowest pulsating low pressure pump on the international market. Especiallydesigned for use in extreme environments, the 2VHL CONTINUUM® iscomplementary of the CONTINUUM® pump, being used for windmill plants andindustrial applications up to 25 bar in continuous operation and with a maximumpeak of 40 bar, where an extremely durable and reliable pump is of the utmostimportance.

The especially studied rotor profile does not let anyencapsulation chamber, so it avoids trapping any fluid volume.Due to the single point of contact between the two rotors, thehelical course of the Continuum rotor profile makes a gentletransmission of movement and a drastic lowering of anypulsation. Internal hydrostatic mechanisms are put in place inorder to avoid trade-off with efficiency.

Did you know? Settima CONTINUUM® NO-NOISE PUMP has been installed in a dark ride present in several DISNEY amusement parks, in Los Angeles, Orlando andHong Kong. The rail of the dark ride was running along the control unit, in which was installed a common, very noisy gears pump. The operators tried to solve theproblem by raising the background music volume, to cover the noise, but when it failed, they went for the most silent gears pump in the world, the SettimaCONTINUUM®, solving the issue!

Continuum® pumps are suitable for multiple setups,whereby the drive shaft of the first pump is extendedto a second, third or fourth Continuum® pump. Eachpump is connected to another by means of coupling.Each pump has its own suction port and can managefluids from different tanks. The technicalspecifications of a single pump apply also to multiplesetups (for more info, see the catalogue onwww.settima.it). The maximum speed is determinedby the highest pump speed rate in use.In case of multiple setup configurations, it isrecommended to use the largest displacement forthe first pump. The front pump may be equipped withdifferent types of flange and shaft.
