THE STORY THE JOURNEYIn the last 5 years Riaan has re written thedefinition of tenacity and become theepitome of determination. Riaan rose toprominence when he became the firstperson to cycle around the entire perim-eter of Africa. For over two years, he ped-alled a mammoth 37,000kms through 34countries; some of which rank as the mostdangerous places on Earth. It was a featthat earned him the title Adventurer of theYear 2006 and 2009 and made his result-ing book, ‘Around Africa on my bicycle’, abest-seller.

In July 2009 Riaan again set another world first when he became the firstperson to circumnavigate the world’sfourth largest island of Madagascar bykayak; another expedition achieved aloneand unaided. The book "Around Mada-gascar by Kayak" released November 2010 surely to follow on the success of "Around Africa".

The subsequent documentary "Madagas-car Maverick" received rave review fromDSTV's Supersport and the South African

Public. Manser too had the privilege of wowing UK audiences; with "Madagascar Maverick: in October 2010 as the headlineact at the Annual Adventure Film Festivalin London. He returns to London and thenAustralia in January 2011 to present hisstory to thousands more. Manser believesthe world today is clammering for storiesof inspiration. Stories about 'doing' not'talking' .

Now he plans to take on mystical Icelandand her arctic waters. A change of tem-perature and scenery, yes, but even morenotable is that this time he will be part-nered. Again another special journey thatwill see Riaan conquer new worlds whilehis partner conquers his own physicaldisabilities. A journey of inspiration.

Filming of the documentary has alreadybegun with departure for Iceland expectedin the first week of March 2011. Manser'sdream started as a personal inspirationstory and 9 years later he now believesthis "ICELAND INSPIRATION" journey;with it's characters and challenges; willcall millions to task as to what they havereally personally committed in makingtheir lives even more meaningful.

In preparation for Iceland, Riaan plans tospend 10 days in a 40-foot container fridge at -20c.

Warming up for IcelandThe fridge tour is in support of No Foodfor lazy man - an initiative, formed byRiaan, to bring about social change byinvesting in sporting equipment and infra-structure for schools who don’t haveaccess to these resources.
