Principal’s Pratter continued … support. Again our canteen ladies came to the fore and provided a huge variety of food and drink for those present. Congratulations to Allie Wood and Fletcher Murray on being selected in their respective North Coast touch football teams for the state titles – a great effort. Again our school will support the Give Me 5 for Kids initiative co-ordinated by radio station 2MC. Tomorrow we hope to beat last year’s total of $700 with our coin donations and out of uniform activity. The term three planner will be available in next week’s newsletter. Education Week, CHAFFS, district athletics, CHATS test for Year 6, Jump Rope for Heart and our Creative Kaleidoscope are a number of the events that will make it another busy and valuable learning time. Our students will continue to have a multitude of educational experiences covering a wide range of areas. Peter Vincent Principal

Multicultural Perspectives Public Speaking Competition

Local Final

Throughout the term, all students in years 3-6 have been working very hard to research, create and deliver speeches on challenging multicultural topics. A number of students from each class were then selected to deliver their speech at our Stage finals held last Monday. Students needed to clearly communicate their opinions, supporting them well with relevant facts and statistics. All participants should be very proud of their efforts! Teachers have selected two students from each stage to participate in the local final that North Haven will be hosting next Monday 23rd June. The competition requires students to deleiver both their prepared speech and an impromptu speech on a non-multicultural topic. Congratulations to Bentley Gregory, Jonah Garven, Emily Hollis and Grace Kuhnell. We wish you all the very best – may the gift of the gab be with you! Our Stage 2 and 3 students will act as the audience for the day. We extend an invitation to any parents and friends from the community who would like to be part of the audience for the local final. The details are: When: Monday 23rd June 2014.

Time: Years 3 & 4: 9:30-11:05 Years 5 & 6: 11:45-3pm (includes a break for lunch)

Where: North Haven Public School Hall

Who: We will welcome students, teachers and families from Wingham Brush, Forster, Long Flat, Taree West and Harrington Public Schools.

TOMORROW AT SCHOOL STUDENT COUNCIL FUNDRAISING

Out of Uniform Day North Haven Public School will again support the 2MC FM Give Me 5 For Kids campaign to raise funds for the children’s wards in our local hospitals. The student representative council (SRC) will co-ordinate the activities and are hoping to match our amazing total last year of over $700. This year we will have a big thermometer on display and for every $1 raised we will colour in another level on the thermometer – let’s see if North Haven can raise the temperature through the roof with donations!!!! We will also hold an out of uniform day on Friday 20th June in conjunction with Mr Vincent’s farewell. Gold coin donations will be collected on the day to add to the fund raising. We encourage your support of this very important local event. 2MC will have their mobile broadcasting unit at our school in the morning and will be doing live crosses to the station between 8.00 to 9.00 am.

SCHOOL NEWS Primary Assembly – HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL EARLY NEXT TERM. The date will be provided in a future newsletter. North Coast PSSA Touch Football Year 6 students Allie Wood and Fletcher Murray have been selected to represent the North Coast in touch football at the state carnival. Allie travels to Wagga Wagga in the Riverina district and Fletcher will be heading to Ulladulla on the south coast. Allie and Fletcher represented the Lower North Coast last week at the North Coast trials held in Grafton. Connor Cook was also a team mate in the LNC team. Allie and Fletcher play touch football over the summer months in Laurieton with the Camden Haven Touch Association. They also play on a Wednesday night in a senior mixed grade competition. Quite a few North Havens students also play in the junior competition over the summer. The improvement in their skills of the game of touch football and the knowledge of how to play the game is evident in our school teams. Kane Faddy, Mick Murray, Toni Gibson and Bevan Latham do a wonderful job in developing the game at a junior level. Junior touch will resume in term 4. Keep an eye out on registration in our term 4 newsletters.

Mikha is only relatively new to rugby union having played only a handful of games on a Friday night in Port Macquarie. Well rugbyed Mikha!!
