Stealing in Dwellings, from the Person, &c.

About two months ago, from the homestead of Henry Martin, of Chittering Brook,—6 black barrow pigs, about 3 years old, one had a little white across v breast, tips of right ears cut ofi'; one had a small \ sized sheep bell fastened on with a strap.—C.I. 142. ^

JOHNS, exp., late 5889 alias MOONDYNE JOE ; is charged on warrant issued at Premantle, on 27th ult., with being on 31st March, 1877, in the possession of an "iron knee" of a boat, value 15s., and does neglect or refuse to give a satisfactory account of how he became possessed of the same. Vide Apprehensions.

GEOEGE WILLIAMS, exp., late 8615, middling stout, age 42 years, 5ft. 8|in. high, light brown hair, long visage, fair complexion. Marks—letter D left side, S.B. right arm, woman left arm, ring 3rd finger

4eft hand, 3rd finger right hand cut off; is charged on warrant issued at Perth, on 27th April, 1877, with having on or about the 6th day of April, 1877, stolen, taken and carried away from Perth, a small black scotch terrier bitch, valued at 30s., the property of Edward Connor, of Perth. This offender is now about 90 miles eastward of York.

CHARLES MC GHEE, free. Description—Slight, about 14 years old, about 4ft. high, light brown hair, long visage, fair complexion; is charged on warrant issued at Greenough, on 25th ult., with having on or about 31st March, 1877, deserted from service of James Donehar, of Greenough, being duly apprenticed to him. This lad is working on the Geraldton and Northampton Railway.

SIMEON, ab. nat. Description—Middling stout, about 25 years of age, about 5ft. 5in. high, black hair, black eyes, oval visage, black complexion; is charged on warrant issued at Greenough, on the 18th ult., with leaving the service of Lewis Leverman, on the 14th January, 1877. This offender is reported to be at Drummond's, White Peak, Geraldton district.

JOHN MOORE, therein enquired for, is reported by L.C. Houlahan, Northampton, to have been seen driving a team in Champion Bay, in January last; further enquiry to be made, and report sent to Detective Office.

ROBEET EEA, late of Liverpool, England, aged 35 years, son of John Rea, provision merchant, Liver­pool, is enquired for; last heard of at Rockhampton, Queensland, about 1873 or 1874, and beUeved to have left there for this Colony. Enquired for at the instance of his brother, Samuel Rea, of Hamilton, Victoria. Should this man's whereabouts be known, report to be sent to Detective Office, Perth.

EDWARD MONAGHAN, son of Michael Monaghan, lately a Police Constable in Western Australia, is enquired for at the instance of his father, of Mel­bourne, Victoria; last heard of as herding cattle for Mrs. Duffey and Mr. Hardey, about 10 miles from Perth. PoUce of the District in which this missing friend is at present, to report result of enquiry to Detective Ofiice, Perth.

Incendiarism.

fd, the property of Charles Clayton (and yards from his dwelling house) containing

a quantity of corn, was wilfully set fire to—the loss considered to be about £100. In consequence of the heavy rains that fell after the fire, the police were unable to track the offenders, but Thomas Menella, exp., is suspected.

Middling stout, 42 years of age, 5ft 4in. high, light brown hair, dark grey eyes, oval visage, fresh com­plexion, freckled; is charged on warrant issued at Perth, on 2nd inst., with deserting his wife aud four children, leaving them destitute, whereby they have become chargeable to the Government. A man answering this description was seen near New Norcia, Victoria Plains, last week, dressed in a blue slop, torn at sleeves, old moleskin trowsers, very old boots, aud old white billy cock hat.

Description-dling stout, about 42 years of age, 5ft. 6 or high, light hair, blue eyes, long visage, fair com­plexion ; is charged on warrant issued at Fremantle, on 3rd inst., with deserting his child, William Turner, under the age of 10 years, and leaving him without means of support. BERNARD CONNOLLY, exp., late 9128. Description 44 years of age, 6ft. 6in. high, brown hair, hazel eyes, oval visage, sallow complexion, left wrist dislocated; is charged on warrant issued at Guildford, on 1st inst., with obtaining from Mr. H. H E N E Y E I N G T O N is shown in list of convict ship " N i l e " as Henry E ing ton ; bu t in another part of ship list he is shown as Henry Kington, with the same description, &c. There is evidently some mistake in spelUng the name, and he may be going in the name of Kington.

Description—Stout, broad shoulders, present age 34, Sft. 7 | in . high, dark brown hair, bald, l ight hazel eyes, long visage, fair com­plexion. Marks—Anchor and J r igh t a r m ; sailor and mermaid left a r m ; a carpenter ; has a spot size of half crown on left side of head void of hair;_ has been in Eoyal Navy ; an E n g l i s h m a n ; walks with a quick short step, turns r igh t foot outward. Absconded from Convict Boat Pa r ty , Premant le , on the 16th December, 1870, and is believed he went overland to South Austral ia with Bernard Stein in October, 1874.

Stealing in Dwellings, from the Person, &c.

On night of Sth inst., from the person of William Parker, while asleep at the residence of Dennis Bennet and Eichard Gough, at York,—two one pound cheques and one ten shilling cheque, drawn on\ W. A. Bank and signed by E. W. Chipper, Nos. and \ date of cheques, not known. York police report this robbery as very doubtful.—C.L 157.

On or about the 3rd inst., from the forecastle of the barque " Annie Lisle," Bunbury, the 'following . property of Thomas Kilpatrick, O.S.,—a German- \ silver Geneva watch, white dial, with curb pat tern silver Albert chain attached, with bar for button hole.—C.L 158.

Dur ing the past three months from the flock of Frederick James Teede, of Bunbury,—11 sheep, I branded I X on the rump with tar. Sheep in question I are suspected to have been killed by James Hislop, of Bunbury.—C.L 159.

Between the 6th and 7th inst., from the sale room of Edward Courthope, Newcastle,—about 40 yards of flannel and 9 small 12 lb. boxes of tea, red label,' and marked G in diamond, No. 14. Three boxes of tea recovered, on the 10th inst., in a drain close to the sale room, and taken to Mr. Courthope. Eeported by WiUiam Hall , exp., 4162, tha t about 9 p.m., on n ight of 8th inst., he was stopped by John Hole, exp., late 8295, alias "Travel l ing Snob," who robbed him on the Albany road by throwing him down, and in the struggle stole a watch of the foUowing description—Patent lever silver hunt ing watch, No. 6079, maker. Edward HiU, Liverpool, capped and jewelled; Eai l road Timekeeper and E . Hill , Liverpool, in red letters on the face—from out of his pocket. Both these men are now on the Albany road. As this rejjort is considered doubtful, the Police will report anything tJiat may come to their knowledge of this matter to the Detective Office, Perth.— C.L 163.

LEWIS CALDEE, exp., late 6264. Description— Middling stout, 38 years of age, Sft. 7in. high, brown hair, dark brown eyes, round visage, fresh complexion ; scar on right eyebrow; is charged on warrant issued at Busselton, on 2nd inst., with having in his possession a quantity of beef, and not giving a satisfactory account of the same, on or about the 28th ult. Description—middling stout, about 19 years of age, about Sft. 6|in. high, Ught brown hair, grey eyes, oval visage, fair com­plexion ; is charged, on warrant issued at Northamp­ton, on 4th inst., with abscon(iing from the service of Crowther and Mitchell, on or about the 4th ult. This man is reported to have gone to the Murchison, to A. J. O'Galvey's place.

Sometime between the 7th and 13th inst., from the bed room of pensioner William Geddes, at Udoc, Wellington District,—a small bag made Of printed carpet, containing needles, thread, bu t tons , \ tailor's thimble, and sundries; also, one razor (black ^ handle), pair doctor's scissors, with points broken off, and one small blue necktie. Sergeant Waldock reports that John Hole, Exp., late 8295 (who is reported by WiUiam Hall, Exp., late 4162, as having robbed him on the Albany road, on the Sth inst.), is in York, where he has V been working since the 18th ult., in the employ of > WilUam Dinsdale, therefore the report made by Wm. Hall is incorrect so far as the alleged robbery by John Hole goes.

On 12th inst., from the great coat pocket of John Lewis Parker, Captain of barque " Hadda," between the Jetty and Geraldton Hotel, Geraldton,—a sixvA chambered patent revolver; maker Smith & Weeson, \ Springfield, Mass., stamped on the barrel. Some of the crew of the barque " Hadda" suspected,— C.L 168.

On or about 21st April, 1877, from the premises of John C. Chipper, John Bull Inn, Perth,—a cart cover. Description—made of No. 2 canvas, with red stripe in centre of each cloth, the eyelet holes are double thickness, a piece of different canvas being sewn on; about 9 eyelet holes one side and 5 on the other. Size 14ft. 6in. long, and 6 cloths wide, sewn with tarred twine. David Dingley, exp., 9528, who left Perth for the Williams, on 21st AprU, 1877, in a team driven by a man named McKenna, suspected.— C.L 170.

On or about 16th inst., from the dwelling house of Brina Krakoner, Williams Eiver,—a W. A. Bank cheque drawn on the 8th May, 1877, by George Glyde & Son, in favor of Thomas Brandrick. Pay­ment stopped by drawer.—C.L 171. \

Convict; arrived iu the Colony per convict ship Nile, in January, 1858. Description—-Middling stout, present age 45, Sft. 9in high, sandy hair, dark brown eyes, long visage, fresh complexion. Marks—H.K. on each arm; a farm laborer. Absconded from a Convict Party at Point Eesolution on the 10th October, 1868. HENRY EINGTON is shown in Ust of convict ship " Ni le" as Henry Eington; but in another part of ship list he is shown as Henry Kington, with the same description, &c. There is evidently some mistake in speUing the name, and he may be going in the name of Kington.

2. JOHN O'EEILLY, Eeg. No. 9843, Imperial Con­vict ; arrived in the Colony per convict ship Hougoumont, in 1868; sentenced to 20 years, 9th July, 1866. Description—Healthy appearance, pre­sent age 30, Sft. 6in. high, black hair, brown eyes, oval visage, dark complexion; an Irishman. Absconded from Convict Eoad Party, Bunbury, on the IBth February, 1869. I t has been ascertained that the above absconder is at Boston, Massa-chussetts, U.S.A. He is at present co-proprietor of a newspaper named " The Pilot."

Absconded from Convict Boat Party, Fremantle, on the 16th December, 1870, and is beUeved he went overland to South Australia with Bernard Stein in October, 1874.

Absconded from Convict Boat Party, Premantle, on the 3rd April, 1872.

8. JOHN or JAMES KEARNS, Eeg. No. 10097, Colonial Convict; under sentence of 5 years p.s., at Albany, on the 1.9th' February, 1873, his Imperial Eeg. No. was 7747, sentence 6 years p.s., on the 7th May, 1861. Description—Stout, present age 39, Sft. 4in. high, brown hair, oval visage, dark complexion. Marks—Bayonet stab in neck, D left side, buUet mark on right leg, willow left arm, J. right arm ; a laborer. Absconded from Point Eesolution Eoad Party on the 10th August, 1873.

9. HENEY PARKENSON, Eeg. No. 8674, Imperial Convict; arrived in the Colony per convict ship Vimiera, December, 1865, reconvicted for larcenies in this Colony. Description—Middling stout, present age 36, 5ft. 6|in. high, brown hair, grey eyes, oval

visage, fresh complexion. Marks—Dot and H on left arm; a laborer. Absconded from North 1?re-mantle Depot on the 8th March, 1874, believed to be in or near Perth.

'Lacepede Islands, chartered by Messrs. Poole, Pickin & Co., of Melbourne, to load with Guano. Marks is beUeved to be under the assumed name of John MarshaU, exp., late 7775, and may have Mar­shall's Certificate of Freedom. Description of offender—Middling stout, 43 years of age, Sft. 7fin. high, dark brown hair (turning grey), light hazel eyes, oval visage, florid complexion; marks on person, cross and necklace, sailor, woman, heart and laurel, crucifix, shamrock, rose and thistle, anchor and rope, bracelet and G.M.E.E., and C , on right ann; schooner, cross flags, palm tree, gun and carriage, tree, flag, compass and bracelet, T.M., W.M,, S.M., rJ.M., E.M., and S.C, left arm; is a saUor.

48. GEOEGE NEEDHAM, Eeg. No. 7805, Imperial Convict. Description—Middling stout, 37 years of age, 5ft. 8in. high, brown hair, dark hazel eyes, oval visage, sallow complexion. Marks—woman, diamond, man, anchor, star, coat of arms, &c., right arm; crucifix, star, anchor and female, left arm; two rings, middle fijiger left hand; both legs marked; is a laborer. Property Found. On 24tli inst., in St. George's Terrace, Perth,

—certificate of freedom of John Le Eay, late 8921, , convicted of burglaries and theft, at St. Helier, in the ^ Island of Jersey, on the 7th November, 1864, and sentenced to ten years transportation.

Stout, 40 years of age, 5ft. 4in. high, brown hair, oval visage, dark complexion, bayonet stab in neck, D left side, bullet mai-k on right hg , willow left arm, J light arm.

Middling stout, 37 years of age, Sft. fi^in. high, brown hair, grey eyes, oval visage, fresh complexion, dot and H on left arm.

Stout, 43 years of age, Sft. 2in. high, light hair, light eyes, oval visage, hght complexion, soldier, woman, and anchor on arm, escaped in whaler " Phoenix."

Slight, 45 years of age, Sft. 4|in. high, dark brown bair, hazel eyes, full visage, sallow complexion, burn marks right arm, has an impeiliment in his speech, pockpitted.

Middling stout, 37 years of age. Sit. 5in. high, dark brown hair, grey eyes, long visage, sallow complexion, no mavks.
