TAWANG WAR MEMORIAL
The War Memorial is a 40-feet high memorial dedicated to the martyrs of the 1962 Sino-Indian confl.ict..This.memorial,. locally. referred.as. the.‘Namgyal Chortan’ has names of 2420 soldiers etched.in.gold.on.32.black.granite.plaques.

The Dograi War Memorial is located at.Khasa,. Amritsar.. The.Memorial.is dedicated to the brave soldiers of 6 Jat who laid their lives for winning Battle of Dograi which is considered as one of the toughest battles fought during 1965 Indo-Pak. War.. By. winning. Battle. of.Dograi,.Indian.Army.reached.at.the.door.steps.of.Lahore.
RHINO WAR MEMORIAL
The Rhino War Memorial is located at Shillong and it is dedicated to the gallant soldiers of 101 Communication Zone who laid down their lives during Indo. -. Pak. War. 1971.. The. War.Memorial was shifted to a serene venue in Shillong Cantonment on 31.August.2017.giving. a. befi.tting.identity to the sacred monument of great reverence and historical signifi.cance.

Indian Army troops reached on the outskirts of Lahore in Pakistan during Indo - Pak war 1965.
T his issue of Baatcheet is dedicated to the 52nd year of 1965 Indo - Pak War.
The 1965 Indo - Pak War had seen the most iconic tank battles since World War II. This had given significant lessons to the world in the field of mechanized warfare. On this occasion we pay homage to the brave soldiers of Indian Army who laid their life in the line of duty in 1965 war and kept the Tricolour flying high.
The visit of Hon’ble Rakhsha Mantri to Western Command and Golden Katar Division is covered in ‘In Focus’ & ‘Snippets’ pages. This month the Indian Army participated in joint military exercises with US and Nepal Army. This has strengthened India’s relation with two Nations and made the troops battle ready to undertake joint military operations across the world.
We request our readers to send good quality high resolution photographs along with a write up of 40 - 70 words before the 25th of every month. Inputs sent on email/AWAN will be preferred.

Suryakiran,. twelfth. edition.of Indo – Nepal Joint Military Exercise was conducted from 03 to 18 Sep 2017 at Shree Nepali Army Battle School.(NABS),.Saljhandi,.Nepal..The.aim of exercise was to train troops in counter insurgency / counter terrorism. operations,. Humanitarian.Assistance and Disaster Relief Management. (HADR).. The. Exercise.enhanced defence co-operation and military relations between the two nations.

Brigade. level..The exercise resulted in a higher degree of Jointmanship that would further facilitate interoperability between the armed forces of both countries to meet any unforeseen contingency.across.the.globe..

COAS. unveiled. a.memorial in honour of CQMH Abdul.Hamid. and. laid. a.wreath..He also interacted & felicitated Smt. Rasoolan. Bibi,. widow. of.CQMH Abdul Hamid and other Veer.Naris.of.the.area.

Golden Key Trekking Expedition was conducted.from.04.to.23.Sep.2017..The.team.covered 154 Km through high altitude terrain passing through heights ranging upto 13000 ft in.Kinnaur.Valley.
28 Army Rafters created a speed rafting record on Zanskar river in high altitude area of Ladakh by negotiating 160 Km from Padum to Nimu in 10 hours & 10 minutes on 22 Sep 2017.

CHANGE OF POLICY FOR ALLOTMENT OF DWELLING UNITS : AWHO
Existing allottees of Army Welfare Housing Organisation are now allowed to apply for an additional dwelling unit in the same station / project as restriction imposed vide Para 11(A) of AWHO Master Brochure has been dispensed with.
Retired TA Pers who are pension holders for continuous embodied service or broken spells of qualifying service are now eligible to apply.
Widow quota will be merged into general category after one year from launch of project. However, one percent of dwelling units subject to minimum one DU of each type will be kept reserved, which will be merged one month prior to issue of option letter for specifi c fl oor & parking space to allottees of the project.
