HEALTH AND SAFETYVisit this neighborhood for information on living healthier and safer. Test drive the Distracted Driving simulator, donate blood, have an oral cancer screening, or learn about bleeding control for emergencies.
THE ARTSView intriguing art, make a craft or check out an instrument in the Instrument Petting Zoo. Try your hand at improv or learn how to paint on glass. And don’t forget to pick up your free kazoo.
DISCOVERY ZONEWant to discover more about science and new technologies while having fun? Draw in the air with 3D Doodler Pens, make a button or watch how water changes landscapes in the augmented reality sandbox. This neighborhood will engage you in astonishing demonstrations and interactive activities.
TRADITIONSDiscover SBU’s amazing cultural history through activities and presentations from our diverse campus. Experience one of SBU’s favorite traditions, the rubber duck race (secure your duck by 3 pm). And don’t forget to stop by the Frank Melville Jr. Memorial Library table to sign up for the 12 pm viewing of the original George Washington/Culper Spy Letter.
FIND OUT IN 15Check out posters featuring the work of our student researchers, who will be there to answer questions. In 15 minutes or less, you’ll see the incredible range of what our students are discovering.
FOOD COURTCheck out the food trucks or our food court for an array of campus and local community dining options. Visit the Farmers Market or discover the food entrepreneurs from our Business Incubator at Calverton. A variety of food items will be available for purchase.
LIVE PERFORMANCESStage Enjoy student dance performances and songs from the OLLI Chorus. Stop by at 2 pm to participate in Kazoo-niversity, a concert extravaganza not to be missed. At 3:50 pm, join us for the kick off for the rubber duck race.
PHOTO BOOTHSCreate your CommUniversity Day memento at the Island Federal photo booth near the SAC or the Alumni Association photo booth near the food court. Stop by the Discovery Zone for special photos with the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences (SoMAS) “shark” and “lobster.”
