Corporate nance law is essential or lawyers, bankersand nanciers who are keen to develop proessionalskills in und raising, deal structures and transactionalmanagement. You will gain an enhanced and pre-eminentqualication or proessionals working or planning to beengaged in a technically demanding and dynamic globalindustry. This course will appeal to both recent graduatesand to practitioners planning to work in various eldsincluding law, investment banking, corporate nance,
private equity, securities and investments. The emphasisis to learn how the nancial markets work, rom theprimary markets involving the issuance o equity, debt andderivatives, to the secondary markets involving the tradingand investments as well as very large nancial transactionsin the international capital markets.
Course content
This course aims to develop a comprehensiveunderstanding o the practical processes and innovativeproducts o the international corporate nance market,including equity and debt capital, derivatives, structurednance, risk management and investment portolio
products. It also seeks to develop the sot skills relevant tothis area o practice, including negotiations and networkbuilding with meetings with senior lawyers and directors
o major companies. Two 18 hour executive residentialweekend programs are taught by 12 proessionals andUniversity academics.

The learning resources at the School are rst class ast IT accessto legal and academic materials, a comprehensively stocked lawlibrary (three foors o studying space), research support andwell-trained library sta. Our IT resources are not conned tothe University premises; our subscription to online materialsallows you to access these materials remotely, rom your homeor student accommodation. A common room or LLM studentsis exclusively set aside or social and academic purposes.
There is also a sports and tness centre on-site.Most course materials are provided through an online learningmanagement system. You also have access to over 25 legaldatabases including LexisNexis and Westlaw.

Assessment
Assessment methods vary among the dierent modules andare predominantly based on written coursework with exams in
some modules.
Research
The School has a strong research base and a vibrant researchculture. In the national Research Assessment Exercise 2008the School entered nearly 30 sta and 85 percent o the worksubmitted was judged to be o international standard. There arecurrently eight proessors and seven Readers on sta. There isparticular strength in business, corporate and commercial law,led by proessors Jason Chuah and John Flood and Joe Tanega.

Entry requirements
A 2.1 or 2.2 Honours degree, or equivalent rom a non-UKinstitution, with an average o 55 percent or above in lawor related discipline/subject. Consideration will be given tomature applicants who lack standard qualications but havesignicant proessional or managerial experience in a relevanteld (eg banking, corporate nance, investments, insurance,management consulting, und management, securities, privateequity, venture capital, commercial property development and
project nance). You will need fuent written and spoken Englishto study at postgraduate level. I your rst language is notEnglish, an attainment o at least IELTS 6.5 or equivalent mustbe demonstrated. The University oers pre-sessional summerprogrammes i you need to improve your English beore startingyour course.
Mature students with industry experience are encouraged toapply as part time or occasional students.
