Liquid Nitrogen

(i) Color:Nitrogen is a colorless gas.(ii) Odor:It has no odor.(iii) Taste:It is a tasteless gas.(iv) Vapor density:The vapor density of nitrogen is 14 (Vapor density of air = 14.4). Hence it is slightly lighter than air.(v) Solubility:Nitrogen is slightly soluble in water. 1 liter of water dissolves about 22 ml of nitrogen at 0oC.(vi) Liquefaction:When cooled and compressed nitrogen liquefies to a colorless liquid, which boils at -196oC. When further cooled, it freezes to a white snow like solid, which melts at -210oC.
