Sitar literally is a form of the Persian word - sitar - which means three strings, “Tar” in Punjabi means “string”. In the beginning, there were only three strings, but now seven strings are used and there are other strings for resonating. Sitar is perhaps the most well-known of the Indian instruments and has delighted audiences around the whole of over hundred years.

Sikh History

About the Course:Founded over 500 hundred years ago by Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the Sikh Dharam now has over 20 million followers around the world. In Punjabi the word ‘Sikh’ means ‘to learn’, as in we are God’s disciples spreading His love and message throughout the world. Through teaching of the 10 Guru’s and the Guru Granth Sahib Ji, the Sikh religion preaches a message of truthful living, equality and devotion and remembrance to God at all times.

We are offering Sikh history so that everyone and anyone can find out more about Sikh history and what it means to be a Sikh. The course will consist of day long lectures that will take place three times a year.

This will give you a significant amount of time, so you are able to cover the period prior to Guru Nanak Dev Ji and proceed all the way through to Banda Singh Bahardur.
